GATE Syllabus of Civil Engineering 2014 GATE as we know stands for Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering is one

of the toughest all India Examination that basically test the all aspects of understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering and Technology. It has been known for testing the engineering basics in a brisk way.It need the effort of mastering an entire course of engineering(30+ subjects). In Gate 2013, as per the candidate supplied category information, among the qualified ones, 72,125 are of General, 41,237 are of OBC-NC, 18,936 are of SC and4,401 are of ST category.Out of the total candidates who registered for GATE 2013,only82.02% had given the exam out of which 13.88% have qualified.Women comprises of39.75% of the total registrants whereas men comprises of 60.25%. Civil Engineering is the oldest professional course which deals with the building, designing and maintaining, physically built environment including works like bridges, canals, roads, dams and buildings. It has been divided into several sub branches as-geotechnical,structural,environmental,transportation,surveying,coastal,material and construction engineering. This Civil engineering has made its place at all levels that is in public sector it has reached up to federal levels and in private sector from individual homeowners to International companies. It has lots of scope and opportunities in the private as well as public sector.Construction Industry is booming as there is tremendous growth in infrastructure development in various Countries.Scope are also there in developing countries where infrastructure development is taking a toll and Indian engineers are in demand.
