JIMS organized its 3rd Annual International Conference -Exploring the Soul of Business; An Eternal Sustainer on 9th February, 2013. A competent panel of dignitaries Dr. Suresh Aggarwal, (Professor, Department of Business Economics, Delhi University), Prof. S.K.Singh, (Retd.), SOSS, IGNOU, New Delhi and Prof. V.K. Seth, FMS, Delhi University reviewed the papers. Dear Readers, In the times of Pepsi IPL, where we witness cut throat bids worth many thousand crores, JIMS, in the last quarter took the road of qualitative development from the root to the top. While our international conference was instrumental in exploring the soul of Business, there were series of activities working towards intellectual enhancement of our students. In the post break session Mr.Ankur Sethi (Head-Corporate Relations, Common job test & Volunteer at Chitrakaar) & Mr. Tarun Upadhiya (Associate - investment banking, Copal Partners) shared their views on Digital branding & modes and Vehicles of Promoting Digital business. The convener of the session was Mr.Anudeep Arora (Assistant Prof, JIMS). The session enabled students to understand how organizations define their goals and develop strategies to attract customers.

GHRDC Workshop
To acknowledge the actual value of Summer Internships Jagan Institute of Management Studies organized a workshop for PGDM-IB and PGDMRMM (2012-14) students on 2nd February, 2013 on Summer Internships- 1st step towards the Corporate World. The resource persons for the workshop were Ms. Mekhla Sinha, Sr. V.P Operations-GHRDC, Ms Shraddha Mishra, Sr.Manager HR-GHRDC and Ms. Neha Kapoor, Asst. Manager, HR-GHRDC. The session focused on Corporate Etiquette and The Power of Goal Setting for students to enhance their communication and presentation skills for their final placements. The workshop commenced by showing students a film and a presentation on the aspect of The Power of Goal Setting which prepared students to appear for their Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The discussion further led for a one-on-one interaction, where students were given live activities to be performed, presenting group cohesive ideas and the aspect of Corporate Interaction and Mind-sharing. Corporate Etiquette was explained to students via presentation and group exercises which would help them behave in the right manner in business environment. Students were given live examples of corporate interaction and corporate culture through interactive presentation. The students were also shown motivating videos and were given preparatory mock interviews. The session was a learning experience for the students, providing them an active platform to share and interact.

Cynosure 2013
On 16th March 2013 Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Rohini organized its 4th North India Info Tech Students Conference Cynosure13. The event was a huge success with more than 50 registrations from Delhi & NCR. Colleges like DIAS, MERI, New Delhi Institute of Management, Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology, Maharaja Surajmal Institute of Technology, VIBS, JIMS Sector 3, GTBIT, Manav Rachna International University, Kirori Mal College, and many more participated in the I.T. Fest. Dr. V. B Aggarwal, Director- InfoTech in his welcome speech highlighted the upcoming trends in I.T. Industry like SEO, SMM, Mobile Computing and Mobile Banking and quoted events like CYNOSURE help to sharpen the skills and enhance knowledge network of budding I.T. Professionals. Jagan Institute Of Management Studies organized its Annual B- Plan Competition Strategem on 16th February 2013.Students from various colleges like SRCC, DSM, NDIM, BVCOE, Poornima School of Management, Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, JIMS Rohini, Sector-5,appeared to showcase their ideas and form enterprises that combined technology, vision and business acumen. The B Plan Competition was judged by the panel of esteemed and learned judges - Mr. Vijay Mangla, Entrepreneur, Founder - Mangla Group; Mr. Mahendra Kumar Sharma, Marketing, Bhragy Steel Private Limited; Prof. S.C.Garg, Head, Delhi School of Management, D T U. The B Plan Competition was organized by Ms. Neha Goyal, Ms. Sugandha Sharma and Ms. Ankita Prabhakar,(Assistant Professors, JIMS) First Prize worth Rs 10,000 was awarded to Mr. Vipul Chadha, BVOCE (GGSIPU). Second Prize worth Rs 8,000 went to Swati Kushwaha and Aruna Srivastava, JIMS, Rohini, Sector - 5. Mohit Kumar and Alisha Dharmic, NDIM at Third position won the cash prize of Rs. 5000/Strategem was a perfect opportunity for all the budding and aspiring managers to reveal their creativity, intellect & entrepreneurial skills as well as enhance & advance their managerial competencies.

JIMS celebrated its Annual Intra College Management cultural extravaganza RADIANCE 2K13 where MUSIC, LIGHTS, & GLITERRATI were the only words that sounded and jelled. The event was well planned and was an amalgamation of zeal and gaiety. It showcased the true spirit of management students who competed and participated to show their talent quotient. The event received a diverse participation from MDI Gurgaon, Indus Business Academy, ARNI University, APJ, Bhagwan Parushram IT , ITS, Amity University, JRE School of Management, Accurate Business School, Jaypee Business School and Maharaja Agrasen College. The main highlights of the events were Business Quiz, Nukkad Natak, Talent Hunt, Band Performance, Glitz & Glamour, and Jam Session. The Business Quiz was conducted by the famous QUIZ MASTER, Mr. Manimughdha Sharma (Reporter, Times of India) The fashion fiesta facilitated by Ms. Parul Raj (Associate Professor, JIMS) saw live performances by the famous RJ RAHUL MAKIN from 104.8 FM SABSE FILMI who engaged the audience with his eloquent persona and charm. The event also saw much of the twist and the turns when the DJ spinned the floor with its electrifying music and grooved the crowd. Sports Club
Sports club of JIMS organized sports events, Table Tennis Tournament & Badminton Tournament in the first and second week of March respectively in which various students of BBA/BCA participated. For both the tournaments++, two finalists from Ist shift & IInd shift qualified for finals. Sahil Sharma (BCA IInd year) was the winner of TT tournament while Mamsoyorn (BCA IInd year) was the badminton winner (Boys category) and Himanshi Gandhi (BBA IInd Year) was the badminton winner (Girls category).

Public Finance
Union Budget of all governments in the world comes out every year. To make managers truly global, JIMS organized a workshop on 14th March to enlighten students of PGDM with various concepts, jargons, norms & processes of Public Finance in general & Budget in particular. The analysts who spoke were Dr. J.K. Goyal, Director, JIMS & Mr. Jitesh Mohnot, Assistant Professor, JIMS. Dr Goyal discussed the role of state & how it has changed from being a Leviathan to a welfare state. Mr. Mohnot followed it up with more detailed analysis of various dimensions of expenditure, revenue & deficits. The key goal was not limited to understand this years budget but to conceptualize them with tools in such a way that they are able to analyze any budget of the future and its impact. The IV series of Alumni Interaction Forum was organized at JIMS,on 23rd February, 2013 at India International Centre on the topic Are Marketers Spending Wisely on Social Media? The Key speakers for the event were: Mr. Abhimanyu Shankhdhar- Strategic Consultant & Trainer: Digital Media- Social Media for Social Change Mr. Gaurav Vashisth- Independent Education Management Professional Mr. Vashisth-Alumni, JIMS initiated the discussion by explaining the importance of social media in todays time. He stressed on the idea of social networking through various social media platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook. Mr. Shankhdhar shared his experiences and thoughts on the aspects Social Media Marketing through an insightful presentation. He further propounded the Social Media Adoption from the early innovators (the ones who discover and trendify) to Laggards (Might never get around to adopt it). He said that Social Media enhances Visibility, Reputation and Approachability. The interaction concluded that CONTENT IS STILL THE KING, where blogs and content have great importance increasing search ability, data knowledge and management and thought leadership. All these valuable tips were discussed at length at the forum. Lastly the Vote of thanks was given by Mr. Kumud Ranjan, Batch 20042006- President Alumni Association. Overall the forum was a fruitful experience for the participants.

They highlighted the fact that Networking is the single most powerful marketing tactic to accelerate and sustain success for any individual or organization. It is about making connections and building enduring, mutually beneficial relationship. Networking is everywhere, on every channel medium and length. The Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Manish Gupta, Chairman, JIMS where he talked about the successful launch of the forum and the vision of heading it as a monthly initiative. Overall the forum was a fruitful experience for the entire JIMS Alumnis and as well as for the JIMS Fraternity. Surely it was a great communicative start.
