4. Firmware part number structure xxx-xxxx-xx

The first 3 digits defines SW category: 001-xxxx-yy: standard projector firmware The four digits in the middle of the projector firmware part number (represented by xxxx in the above example) are unique and indicate for which product the given SW should be used. Never update to a SW with part number different from the SW part number listed in the menu of the projector (about section) unless instructions from projectiondesign tell you to do so. The last two digits defines the given SW version, these are the rolling revision numbers (yy).

5. Firmware files, the SW file bundle content

Software for all products is posted on the providers web-page ,the service and support section. www.projectiondesign.co

Projector firmware will consist of the following files and folders:

Appcode is the main firmware file. Bootcode contains the basic timing and communication settings Always read changelog to see if upgrading boot code is necessary. Flasher.exe is the actual SW upgrade utility

6. Upgrade procedure using serial cable

If instructions on web or in release notes indicate you should upgrade the boot code you should always install this file first. 6-1 6-2 6-3 6-4 6-5 Make sure the power cable is disconnected from the projector Download and save the given 001.firmware.zip file to your PC desktop. Unzip the firmware bundle to a known location on your PC Connect a straight Serial cable between the COM/RS232 port on the computer and the RS232 port on the projector. Open the flasher.exe application found within the downloaded SW bundle. Make sure Notify On Completion is ticked off.

6-6 Make sure communication settings within the flasher program is set to: Connection COM Port Baud Rate Serial COM 1 115200 (or the assigned serial port defined in device manager (Ports, Com & LPT)

These are also default communication settings when the Flasher 3.0 program is opened

NOTE:

If USB to serial cable is used, please make sure com port setting above equals the com port assigned in the windows device manager, ports section.

6-7 The Appcode file is selected by default when you open the flasher application the first time. Choose and Open the correct SW upgrade file, always bootcode.inf. first if instructions on web say so.

6-8 Press the [flash] button 6-9 Waiting for target reset will appear above the progress bar

6-10 Connect the power cable to the projector. A blue progress bar should then indicate that the download is occurring DO NOT interrupt until download is complete. Allow approximately 1 minutes to complete bootcode flash. When the below notification box appears, the SW download is complete.

6-11 6-12 6-13

Remove the power cable from the projector Repeat process installing the Appcode: Choose/Open the correct SW upgrade file, appcode.inf

6-14 6-15

Press the [flash] button Waiting for target reset will appear above the progress bar

6-16

Connect the power cable to the projector.

A blue progress bar should then indicate that the download is occurring DO NOT interrupt until download is complete. Allow approximately 8 minutes to complete appcode flash. When the below notification box appears, the SW download is complete.

6-17 Remove the power cable from the projector, and insert it again. Note! In some cases after a SW upgrade, typically first time you connect power after boot code is updated, it might take more time than normal to get the projector into standby mode. In these rare cases the projector internal electronics is restructuring data, typical identification of this is an inconsistently blinking amber LED. This process can take as long as 10 minutes.

It is IMPERATIVE that you do not toggle the power cord when the above mentioned data restructuring takes place!

7. Verification
Verify in projector menu, status section - that the newly updated firmware version is shown in the menu Please note that illustrations are for illustrative purposes only. Actual file details will not necessarily reflect actual details in your flash upgrade.
