As one of the results of the efforts of the committee working on education opportunities at St. Luke's, we will begin offering a comprehensive weekly Bible study in the fall of 2013 . Entitled "Studies in the Bible", this study will include both instruction and discussion of the various books and themes being covered over the next five years. The format developed anticipates classes being offered on a quarterly basis, of fall (September-December), winter (January March), and spring (April-June). The fall classes each year will cover aspects of the Hebrew Scriptures (Old Testament), while the winter will be devoted to the Christian Gospels and the spring sessions to other New Testament books and topics. These classes are open to anyone interested in attending free of charge. The primary translation utilized will be the New Revised Standard Version, but participants will be encouraged to use whatever translation they prefer. As this is a general study, no previous knowledge or expertise in the Scriptures is required or expected.
