Consult with the hr manager of any organization and discuss about the hr functions and strategies formulation and execution in that organization?
Wateen Telecom is a converged communication services provider based in

Lahore,Pakistan and is a sister concern of Warid Telecom .The company began its operations in Pakistan in 2007 with the deployment of the largest fibre optic network in the country. Moreover, Wateen is the worlds first company to commercially roll out a WiMAX network on a nationwide scale. Wateen was recently ranked as the #1 wireless broadband service provider by PTA and won the Consumer Choice Award for the Best Internet Service Provide. Mr. Rizwan A. Qureshi is the assistant hr manager in Wateen telecom corporation, head quarter in Islamabad. He has done MBA in the subjects of human resource management and join Wateen telecom in the year 2009 to start his professional career .

Hr functions adopted by the Wateen Telecom:


HR planning: In the hr planning functions the hr managers of this organization try to control and analyse the number of employees needed for the corporation to deal with the tasks. To formulate this strategy they analyse the requirement o the projects and the annual assesment with the help of which they estimate the number of employees needed. More over this function also helps to formulate the teams to perform different tasks on the basis of the nature of the projects assigned. Job analysis: To do the job analysis and study the nature of the job a detailed study was taken out by the hr managers and describe the nature of job in accordance with the need o the corporation. Like in Wateen mostly the contractual nature of job is assigned. Staffing: To recruit the new employee for the corporation mostly this process was out sourced to other agencies or means but for some specific posts only internal recruitment is prefered and executed. Training and development: To help the newly recruited employees to settle them and improve their skills special training and development classes were introduced. Both the on job and off job training sessions were adopted depending on the situation and nature of the jobs and posts allotted. Performance appraisals: Different performance appraisals are given to the employees in the form of bonuses, vacations and other compensations. These appraisals are formulated on the basis o the requirement o employees mostly the bonuses are given to the employees based on the profit percentage. Record keeping: To keep the corporation most effective and efficient the records of employees is present their which helps to monitor the performance of the employees on the basis of which the transfers and promotions o the employees is done by their evaluation.

HR strategies adopted by Wateen telecom:


People analysis: It is very important for any organization to analyze the people recruited for its employees.

Wateen requires a hard working and committed employees. To do this they set special interview panel to analyze the nature of the people whether they are perfect for the job or not. Moreover special compensation and benefits packages are given to the employees to earn their loyalty. Culture: Wateen telecom tried its level best to provide a friendly culture to its employees. To do this the hr department sets the flexible working schedule for the employees. They are given the proper relaxation time during the lunch break and that extra time is compensated with the extra half an hour working time. For the married employees special packages are given to them which benefits them. Other than this suggestion boxes are introduced in the corporation to provide opportunities to their employees to monitor the problems faced by them and try to make their workplace as efficient as possible. Structure: In the structure of Wateen telecom the major function introduced by the hr department is the job evaluation process which helps the management and employees to evaluate the performance of their supervisors and colleagues also which is the best way to design and formulate the whole structure of the organization to improve it and make it better on the basis of merit only.
