David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife[a] of Uriah. 7 Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.[b] 8 Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. 9 Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. 10 Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon,[c] and Amon begot Josiah. 11 Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon.

Worlds history which is the history of mankind is redemptive history and redemptive history is the worlds history. Gods redemptive history is interlinked with the worlds history and history of the world is proceeding within Gods redemptive history.

However, when God records the Bible which is Gods redemptive history interlinked with the worlds history God did not record all the actual facts that happened in the history of the world. If God recorded all of those happenings then as it is written in John 21:25, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. Bible contains many genealogies and this genealogy originated from when God pronounced His plan to save the mankind who had sinned. 1. Genealogies in the Bible are the passageways for the seed of the woman to come to this world. As it is stated in Genesis 3:15, when Adam, the ancestor of the mankind, sinned God promised the seed of the woman as the Saviour of the whole mankind and the passage through which this seed of the woman is to come is genealogy in the Bible. Therefore, if anyone does not know the genealogies in the Bible, then he or she cannot meet the seed of the woman who is to come as the Messiah and if anyone cannot meet the seed of the woman, then salvation becomes none of his or her business.

Who is the seed of the woman whom God promised as the Saviour of the world? Jesus Christ whom we believe as the Lord of everlasting life is the seed of the woman.

Galatians 4:4 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born[a] of a woman, born under the law,

Christ who came as the seed of the woman is the One who possesses both the human nature and divine nature and He is the form of God.

Philippians 2:6

who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,

Hebrews 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself[a] purged our[b] sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

Gods redemptive administration is accomplished according to system of genealogy. As we examine the massive stream of redemptive history which is the beginning and the end of mankind, one generation of redemptive history begins as a genealogy and it ends as a genealogy as well.

Therefore, genealogies are progressive signposts of redemptive history and they are watersheds that reconfirms the firm determination of Gods covenant in each time period.

Therefore, the Bible which is Gods redemptive history as well as the worlds history records many genealogies. It is safe to say the Bible itself is one big genealogy.

2. Secrets hidden inside genealogies. From Gods redemptive historical point of view, genealogies in the Bible are summaries with names that contain Gods secret administration hidden in God as condensed and essential form. That is why the basic component of genealogy is name. If we read genealogies with recorded names only, it is quite boring, however, in the names of genealogy are Gods redemptive administration for salvation of mankind hidden. Name is the shortest form to describe one persons life personally and if we elaborate this name, it extends to history and if we compress down history, it becomes a name. Accordingly, many secrets are hidden in genealogy.

We, who have already read Gods redemptive series, must have the eyes that can read out the secrets hidden in the genealogies in the Bible as we read many genealogies written in the Bible. 1. Genesis Genealogies In the book of Genesis, there are genealogies that compress down and compress down total of 2300 years of Gods redemptive history. Among these, in Genesis Chapter 5, there is the genealogy of 10 generations from Adam to Noah.

Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the genealogy of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

It is called the book of the genealogy.

I hope you use your wisdom what you are really reading as you read the genealogies in the book of Genesis.

2) Genealogies in the book of Luth. In Luth 4:18-22, God is showing the passageway of His covenant called David through the genealogy of 10 generation from Perez to David. Also, this genealogy is functioning as the link between the time of the judges and monarchy period. We must pay attention to the fact that the time of the judges which Israel lived without a king and as they pleased is omitted from the genealogy of Christ.

3) Genealogies in the book of Chronicles. From the opening of the first book of Chronicles, boring genealogies with simple enumeration of names are recorded in the book of Chronicles and from Chapter 1 to 9 of the first Chronicles, the genealogy records about 3600 years of history. How can we know the content of such long history? When God opens our eyes with the illumination of the Holy Spirit, only then we could understand, how can a man possibly understand the secrets of God? Matthew 24:35

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

We must find all Gods Words and reveal them so that the end of the world may come finally. Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The message you are receiving right now is the Word of God regarding the end. We must bring the end by preaching this Word of God to the ends of the earth. New heaven and the new earth will come only when this world comes to an end, right?

It is needless to say how good the world of the new heaven and the new earth is. Right?

Genealogies in the book of Chronicles has a nickname of annotated textbook of the Old Testament and the genealogies of the book of Chronicles begins with the ancestor of mankind, Adam.

1 Chronicles 1:1-4 Adam, Seth, Enosh, 2 Cainan,[a] Mahalalel, Jared, 3 Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, Noah,[b] Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

What did you have in mind as you read this genealogy with simple enumeration of names? Have you thought of Adams crime and banishment from the Garden of Eden and the life full of thistles and thorns? As you read the name Cain, have you thought of the secret which God hid inside that name Cain? Cain killed his brother Abel with a stone. God said to Cain, The voice of your brothers blood cries out to Me from the ground. As you read the name Cain have you read out the fact that the ground is crying out to God?

We think that the ground has no eyes, nor ears, and mouth, however, God gave all creation eyes, ears and mouth. So that they can report to God whenever whatever.

Therefore, we should not step on the ground recklessly and we should not act shamefully on the ground.

As you read the name Noah, have you read out the phases of the times contained in that name?

The earth was filled with violence and the wickedness of man was overflowing. Have you read out the situation where God cannot help but bring the world to the judgment and destroy the whole mankind with the earth?

Judgment by flood and the ark of Noah; Have you read out Gods mysterious and marvellous work of operating the ark and arriving safely at the mount Ararath which is the mountain of creation, the living mountain and the holy mountain without oars and the helm?

Although it simply says Shem, Ham and Japheth, the Bible says Genesis 6:10-12 And Noah begot three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. 12 So God looked upon the earth, and indeed it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.

If so, then as you read the names Shem, Ham and Japheth, you ought to see the earth filled with violence and the corrupt world before God and you must hear Gods heartbreaking lamentation that makes the judgement inevitable.

As it is written in Genesis 6:3 and below, what was the reason that the mankind had to be put to judgment by flood and destroyed? It was because of the sin of bearing the evil seeds by engaging in marriage as men pleased. Also, we can say the reason why the world was put to judgment was because of Noah. If Noah did not fully believe the Word of God then the world would not have been destroyed. From the unbelievers perspective, Noah is like their enemy.

For Noah fully believed the Word of God, the world at the time was destroyed.

People who did not believe in the Word of God were destroyed because of Noah and people who did believe the Word of God were saved because of Noah; how mysterious and marvellous this Gods administration is!

Please do not forget Gods warning in Matthew 24:37

But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

In the end of Chapter 9 of 1st book of Chronicles, there is the list of people who came back from Babylonian captivity and it is the list of names of people who were taken as captives because they did not keep the Word of God and returned. What were you thinking in your mind as you read these names?

Have you read out the disobedience and disbelief of Israel who did not keep the Sabbath year and as a result of such sin they were deported to Babylon and lived as captives for 70 years? Even during the time of Babylonian captivity, Gods mercy did not stop upon Israel and finally God led them back to their homeland. Have you read out Gods endless love? Have you read out the history of eternally unquenchable lamp which God made covenant with David? 70 years of captivity in Babylon for the children of Israel was the tragedy brought to them because of the ground that cried out to God for the children of Israel did not keep the Sabbath year. If the ground did not report to God, there would be no deportation to Babylon for the children of Israel. Right?

We must be aware of the fearfulness of the ground. When we skip offering all the tithes to God, that money goes and reports to God. We must not forget this fact.

As we see Malachi 3:9, 9 You are cursed with a curse, For you have robbed Me, Even this whole nation. The children of Israel got their crops totally destroyed by disaster by wind and coldness and by locusts because they did not bring all the tithes to God as God had commanded them. As you read the list of people who returned from Babylonian captivity, if you cannot read out such things, then you could not understand the will of the Holy Spirit who wrote genealogies in the Bible. All such meanings of the Word of God are hidden inside genealogies, however, people cannot understand nor believe, it is frustrating. What is worse is there are people who say, What these genealogies have anything to do with me? I hope you to be the bright ears that hear the sound of Gods deep lamentation and sigh.

4) Genealogies in the book of Ezra and in the book of Nehemiah. Truly, many genealogies are recorded in the book of Ezra and Nehemiah and these genealogies are the newly revised genealogies of the people who returned from Babylonian captivity, the first return and the second return.

Ezra and Nehemiah are handling genealogies in position of redemptive history and one peculiar fact is that they investigated genealogies of each individual of the children of Israel. They investigated the genealogies of the people who returned from Babylonian captivity individually. Do you think the genealogies were kept properly and orderly during their 70 years of captivity in Babylon? Our people too when we were colonized under Japan for 36 years suffered greatly under Japanese who tried very hard to eradicate our history and change the family names of our ancestors and even tried to destroy the Spirit of our people.

For Korea it was 36 years under Japanese colonization, but for the children of Israel it was double of our time, 70 years. Do you think their genealogies were safely preserved?

In Ezra Chapter 2, Ezra investigated and revealed the genealogies of people who returned from Babylon according to the house they belong and according to their duties. The amazing thing we must notice here is that all the people who could not verify the genealogy they belong to were expelled. They investigated genealogies for several months and people whose names could not be verified whether they belong to Israel or not were all expelled from the congregation.

Ezra 2:59-63 And these were the ones who came up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addan,[o] and Immer; but they could not identify their fathers house or their genealogy,[p] whether they were of Israel: 60 the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, and the sons of Nekoda, six hundred and fifty-two; 61 and of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Koz,[q] and the sons of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called by their name. 62 These sought their listing among those who were registered by genealogy, but they were not found; therefore they were excluded from the priesthood as defiled. 63 And the governor[r] said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till a priest could consult with the Urim and Thummim.

The same situation is recorded in Nehemiah 7:61-63 If a priest who forgive the sins of people does not have his name on the genealogy, then is he not a fake or what? Like this, among priests, those who could not find their names in the genealogy were considered as defiled and were excluded from the priesthood. Such priests became beggars overnight because they were excluded from the priesthood. If you read such fact as someone elses story, then youve read it wrong.

They found out 652 people who were not registered in the genealogy and expelled them out from the people of Israel and as a consequence, many separated families were formed among Israel overnight.

What have you in your minds as you read such fact? Have you thought of the fact that you can also be expelled from the congregation of the firstborns in the kingdom of heaven if you too do not have your name registered properly in the genealogy?

Ezra revealed his own genealogy to the congregation. Ezra 7:1-6 Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah, 2 the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub, 3 the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth, 4 the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki, 5 the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest 6 this Ezra came up from Babylon; and he was a skilled scribe in the Law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given. The king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

In Nehemiah Chapter 10, there is the genealogy of people who took an oath that they would keep the covenants and this genealogy recorded the names of people who made covenants with God that they would believe and keep Gods covenant no matter what happens whether the heaven and the earth are turned upside down. In Nehemiah Chapter 11, there is the list of people who settled down in Jerusalem and in Nehemiah Chapter 12, there is the list of priests and Levites.

5) Genealogies in Matthew and Luke. Genealogy in Matthew Chapter 1 is the summery of redemptive history that compressed down 4000 years of redemptive history. Although it is composed of only 16 verses and it is a short genealogy, it is the condensed form of genealogy that compressed down the traces of Gods secret administration which God planned before the creation and proceeded from the creation of the world.

The hero of this genealogy Jesus Christ is the core of the Old Testament and the evidence of the New Testament. In the genealogy of Matthew it says,

Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon. Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab.

However, if you believe this as it is written, then you are truly foolish people. Because God had hidden many secrets in the genealogies so that even Satan cannot find out and know. For the saints of God who are full of the Word of God and prayer and who are filled with grace of God and the Holy Sprit, for those who continue the generation of faith, God had hidden His secrets only for them to find out and understand.

One saint of our church who found out this secret and understand Gods secret is more precious than 3000 saints of other church. The saints of our church are the saints of God who understand the secret administration hidden in God and the saints of other church do not know Gods real image and true existence. Would you exchange one of our saint with 3000 of other believers? The Word of God which God let us understand through the illumination of the Holy Spirit, Gods redemptive series had already published 5 books now. How pitiable the people who die without knowing this are!

Please do not forget and take heed to yourselves, And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Ram begot Amminadab, Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.

What have you read out from this Scripture?

As you read Ram begot Amminadab, have you read out 430 years of slavery in Egypt and the Exodus which God brought the children of Israel out of Egypt by His sovereign power and the band of man? If you could not read out such facts, then you are saddening the heart of God who had given you Gods redemptive series. God is describing the incident of Exodus as drawing them with gentle cords, with bands of love. The leader of the Exodus, Moses, is expressed as the gentle cords, the bands of love. Hosea 11:4

I drew them with gentle cords,[d] With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck.[e] I stooped and fed them.

Please do keep in mind that God described His man Moses who led the children of Israel out of slavery as the gentle cords. Please keep this in mind and remember this fact. How greatly blessed you are if you could understand this one thing, man of God is described as bands of love! As you read Ram begot Amminadab, you ought to read out the fact that during the years of slavery in Egypt, the time when the children of Israel did not know God and believe in God and did not hope on God are all omitted from the genealogy of Christ. If you could read out such fact, then it is worth it for you to read Gods redemptive series. In Matthew 1:5, it says, Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab. As you read this Scripture, what have you found out from it? The phases of darkness during the time of judgment when the children of Israel did not know God and endless pain and tribulation of the people of the time, And as it is stated in Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.

Have you read out the fact that such generations were totally omitted from the genealogy of Christ? You ought to read out bitterly the result of the principle of non-interference from God where people lived as they pleased. 3. Our genealogy Some people say how come we have to study the genealogies in the Bible when the Bible is the history book of people of Israel. Some people ask why we must study the genealogy of some foreign nation which has no relation to us. But those people do not know the Bible. That is why they say such thing. If you believe in Gods covenant, then your birth place is changed, your genealogy is also changed and we become the sons of Abraham and we become Israel. Galatians 3:6-7 6 just as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.[c] 7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. Galatians 3:29 29 And if you are Christs, then you are Abrahams seed, and heirs according to the promise. Please believe that if you are Christs, then you are Abrahams seed and heirs according to the promise. Therefore, our genealogy is changed and our birth place is changed as well. Originally we were the Gentiles and the children of wrath, but by believing Gods covenants we became the sons of Abraham and thus, are we not better than the kings whose names are omitted from the genealogy of Christ? Now our place of birth is changed, our names are changed and our status is changed. We are not sons of Mr. Park, nor Mr. Lee, but we are sons of Abraham. Our last name is changed and our place of birth is changed. We are not from KyungSang province, nor from Chulla or Hamkyung Provinces. As soon as we receive the Word of God and believe it, we become the citizens of heaven. Our genealogy on earth is all disappeared.

Mil Yang Park, Chun Joo Lee, Kim hae Kim, all these family names are according to the genealogies on this earth and they are totally irrelevant to Gods redemptive history. To those who believe and accept the Word of God, God called them the children of Abraham and blessed them they will be blessed with Abraham the father of faith. Galatians 3:7-9 7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, In you all the nations shall be blessed.[d] 9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. This is our spiritual genealogy and the promise of God, the covenant of God which applies to us today as well. Romans 9:6-8 6 But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, 7 nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, In Isaac your seed shall be called.[b] 8 That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed. It means the children with Gods covenant, only children who have the promise of God are acknowledged as children of God. Even if you are sons of the same father, one of you may be born according to the flesh and one of you may be born according to the promise, the Word of God. Romans 9:9 For this is the word of promise: At this time I will come and Sarah shall have a son. Only Isaac who was born according to this promise is the seed of Abraham and is the son of covenant. You ought to know the correct definition of the sons of Abraham, Abrahams seed. True Israel that continues Gods covenant is the children of covenant, not the sons born through the flesh. Therefore, if you believe in God and believe in the Word of God, your spiritual family register is changed.

Your hometown on earth is changed to hometown in heaven and your citizen on earth is changed to citizenship in heaven. That is why the Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:20 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, In what genealogy our names are listed? Hebrews 12:23 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. I hope you believe that through the Word of God given to you today, your genealogy is no longer in this world and is changed to the one in heaven and as the children of Abraham the father of faith you receive blessing with Abraham. Also, we are registered in heaven in the general assembly of the firstborn in heaven and believe this fact and be thankful so that we can kill our sinful traits on earth such as fleshly greed, envy, jealousy and proud and live only for the glory of God as the seeds of the living hope. I bless you with the name of the Lord.
