Electron Microscopy

SEM-EDX characterization of the thermal interface material in a microprocessor

The thickness and the chemical composition of a thermal interface material from an Intel Pentium IV microprocessor were characterized using SEM-EDX technique.

A brief description of how to use SEM, TEM and AFM microscopes An explanation of SEM, TEM and AFM methods was given in terms of their physical principle, sample preparation and equipment.

Metal alloys Technology

Artificial aging of aluminum 2024 -T6 The artificial aging of aluminum 2024-T6 samples was carried out with a heat treatment at constant temperature, and a relationship between hardness and aged time was obtained.

Modeling and Simulation

Simulation of a hip prosthesis in COMSOL Multiphysics The effect of mechanical stress was simulated on a hip prosthesis, modeled from a real one, using Comsol Multiphysics. Additionally, design improvements were proposed to decrease such phenomena.

Polymer Technology

Five-layer coextrusion of barrier packaging A mathematical study of 5-layer coextrusion process was performed for Yanber.S.A. in terms of the polymers barrier properties.

Reliability Engineering

Determination of the manufacturing process reliability of oil transmission pipes from HAP company The reliability for short oil transmission pipes from HAP company was evaluated in terms of their manufacturing process.

Thin-Films and Semiconductor Processing

Effect of the time of deposition and the temperature on a goldpalladium thin-film deposited on a glass substrate Gold-palladium thin films on glass substrates were heat treated and coalescence phenomena was studied as a function of the temperature and deposition time.

X-Ray Diffraction and Thermal Analysis

Thermal analysis of cerium oxide nanoparticles dispersed in water Thermal behavior of a cerium oxide nanoparticles solution, prepared via sol-gel method, was analyzed through DSC and TGA techniques.
