A) Microteaching: 2 activities done in the classroom

Ex. 1
Level: elementary
Age: children 7-8 year olds
Context: Little Red Riding Hood
How is context introduced:
The T shows children a website with the story about Little Red Riding Hood. The children
watch and listen to the story read by the lector.
Materials: ELT website – www.britishcouncil.org/kids
Aims:
Linguistic:
- to improve listening skills
- to practice some vocabulary connected with the story
Non-linguistic:
- to entertain Ss
- to show Ss such well known story form an English point of view

Preparation There is a pre-reading activity which leads children to the S- Granny
of the task topic of the lesson. Firstly T asks children if they recognize S- Wolf

Then T reads and demonstrates the instructions to children so
they could understand what to do. The exercise provides Ss
with immediate feedback. After doing the activity, children
watch and listen to the story read by a lector.

Age: teenagers 15-16 year olds
Context: Send me a card!

How was the context introduced:
Ss worked on the lesson with a coursebook – PROJECT. The lesson was about writing
different kinds of cards – for example Valentine’s Day, Birthday Card etc. Ss were practicing
writing different kinds of cards, essential vocabulary and so on.
Now: Ss write and send E-cards in the internet.

Aims:
Linguistic:
- to consolidate all the things they learned at the lesson
- to practice their writing skills
Non-linguistic:
- to entertain them through the use of internet and possibility to send their E-cards to
their friends.

Preparation T asks Ss to go on above website and choose ‘Project’ link S – they are cards in
of the task from the ‘Secondary’ level, then click on ‘E-cards’. the internet
T- Do you know what ‘E-cards’ are? S – we can send them
through the internet
Then T asks Ss to write such a card. First they must choose S – we can send them
what kind of card to write. Then fill in such information like: on somebody’s e-mail
name of the receiver, his/her address and so on. Then they
must write short message (at least 5 sentences)

B) Descriptions of 2 activities done in the classroom

Ex. 1

Level: upper-intermediate
Age: adults 18-19 year olds
Context: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
The exercise is done in the middle of the lesson!
How was the context introduced:
Ss were working with a text about a film - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. After
reading it they were supposed to focus on grammar – prepositions. They were looking for all
kinds of prepositions and studying how to use them in a sentence.
Now: Ss are provided with a text where they must fill in appropriate prepositions on the basis
of video file.

Aims:
Linguistic:
- to practice using prepositions
- to improve listening skills
Non-linguistic:
- to entertain Ss with a tutorial from a ‘Harry Potter’ film.

Preparation Ss go to the page with the exercise. They read instructions S – watch, listen and

friend, what she was doing yesterday. The aim of the lesson is to practice the past simple
tense.
Now: Ss are doing exercise where they must match infinitives to their past forms.

- to entertain Ss with an activity done in the internet

Stages Procedure
Preparation T asks Ss to enter the above website. Then T asks children to

should have known all of them. Then T explains Ss that they
have to match these infinitives with their past forms on the
right. T demonstrates Ss how to do it by matching one of the
examples.
