Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop Release 2 Patch 1 (Version 2.0.1.5) Product Release Notes

Overview
The Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop Release 2 Patch 1 Product Release Notes outline minor changes to the CRM On Demand Desktop user interface and existing behavior. Additionally, they outline unresolved items in the base release version that will be addressed as quickly as possible. The Product Release Notes will be modified as changes in the product occur.

Known Issues CRM Desktop Release 2 Patch 1

Synchronization of Shared Addresses is not supported
Oracle CRM On Demand Release 20 introduced the concept of Shared Addresses, where a single address could be associated with multiple Contacts or Accounts. Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop does not support Shared Addresses. If you utilize Shared Addresses, you will receive synchronization errors and be unable to update addresses for Contacts and Accounts.

Localization and Translation

Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop supports the same languages as Oracle CRM On Demand. There are a few locations where translation is incorrect that will be addressed in the next release: Language(s) Non-English Operating System/ Non-English Outlook Location Providing invalid password Contact Detail View Logging Configuration Window Providing invalid server port Providing invalid SSO entry Filter Presets Window English Operating System / French Outlook Object Detail View Translation Error message is in English Currency shows USD Screen is in English Error message is in English Error message is in English System and User filter identifiers are in English Label Notes is in English

Error message incorrectly states that Local Synchronization will be automatically retried
The Japanese error message that appears if a server busy response is generated on Local Synchronization will incorrectly state that the Local Synchronization will be automatically retried.

Un-sharing an email if User does not have Delete Privileges to Activity will cause synchronization errors
When a user who does not have the Can Delete access profile setting on Activities un-shares an email and synchronizes, they will receive synchronization errors for that activity. Un-sharing an email is the same as deleting an E-mail type activity, and if the user is not permitted to delete activities, they will get an error. To avoid this issue, grant the user Can Delete access to the Activity object.

Owner Field can be different between Outlook and CRM On Demand

After creating an activity, lead or opportunity in Outlook and synchronizing it to CRM On Demand, and then changing the owner value in CRM On Demand and performing another synchronization, the owner fields will be different between Outlook and CRM On Demand. This issue only occurs if the record is created on the client

Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop Release 2 Patch 1 (Version 2.0.1.5) Product Release Notes

first, and then the owner is changed on the server. Changing the owner field on the client does not cause the scenario.

Clicking the Pin icon does not pin/un-pin a record

The Pin icon on a record indicates what the pinned status is of that record. Clicking the icon to either pin or un-pin the record does not work. To pin or un-pin a record, navigate to the Control Panel, and use the Exclusions or Additions list to quickly pin / un-pin records. As the control panel shows all pinned / un-pinned records, it is recommended to perform this action from the Control Panel.

Additions and Exclusions list not refreshed when switching between tabs
When managing records, any records that are pinned are shown in the Additions tab, and records that are unpinned not desired to be synchronized even though the record matches the filters are shown in the Exclusions tab. If a user loads the Control Panel, then goes back to Outlook and deletes a pinned record, that record will show in both the Exclusions and Additions tab until the Control Panel is closed and re-opened. This issue is a GUI refresh issue and does not affect data.

Online lookup of deleted record before synchronizing the deletion causes synchronization error
If a user creates a record in Outlook and performs a local sync, then deletes that record from Outlook (either Client Only or Both Client and Server), then does an online lookup for that deleted record and adds it, and finally performs a full sync, they will receive synchronization errors and the record will be in Outlook and unable to be removed. This issue is caused because the record will still be in CRM On Demand until the deletion event is synchronized. To avoid this issue, either do not perform an online lookup for deleted records or do a local sync to send the delete event to CRM On Demand after deleting records. If a user accidentally deletes a record in Outlook they can re-add the record by removing it from the Exclusions list in the Control Panel, or by doing a local sync first and then performing an online lookup.

Company level team propagation issue

If a user creates an Account record in Outlook and associate a Contact record created in CRM On Demand through online lookup, the owner of the Account record will be added to the Contact Team if the Enable Parent Team Inheritance option is checked on the companys profile detail page (assuming the owner of the Contact record is different from the owner of the Account). In this case, if user deletes the Contact from Outlook and then go to the Control panel Synchronization Exceptions dialog - > Exclusions tab and clear the entry for the Contact, this Contact record will be deleted from CRM On Demand Server.

Change the owner of a record and sync may remove its associations to related records on server
If the owner of record is changed to a new user, e.g., a salesperson leaves the company and his tasks are reassigned to a new salesperson, if the new salesperson makes change to the tasks and does a local sync in Outlook, the associations the tasks originally have (a task record is normally associated to Account, Contact, Opportunity or Lead) will be removed from the CRM On Demand server. To avoid losing such associations, add the new salesperson to the teams of those associated records before do a local sync.

Customer Impact
In addition to the known issues, the following changes to product behavior, or feature implementation may also impact customers using CRM On Demand Desktop Release 2 Patch 1.

Automatic Synchronization Retry

If the server returns a busy response, synchronization will automatically be retried for Full Synchronization and Initial Synchronization. Automatic Retry is not enabled for Local Synchronization.

Association sections are empty when associated records are both pinned
If a record doesnt match the synchronization filters, but is added via online lookup (pinned) to the data being synchronized, and another record is associated to that parent that is also pinned i.e. neither record matches the filter criteria the pinned record wont be present in the association section. This is by design as the association between two records that do not match the filter criteria is evaluated each time to ensure that visibility rules are respected. If one record matches the filters, the association is kept during synchronization.

Email Activity that doesnt match filter is visible in Outlook

In CRM On Demand Desktop Release 1, if an email activity didnt match the filters, the related email would be unshared and the activity would not be visible in Outlook. In CRM On Demand Desktop Release 2, with the introduction of Record Pinning, any records that are created in the client are automatically pinned i.e. synchronized and kept visible in Outlook for a configurable period of time. The purpose of this feature is to give users time to make changes to data, or ensure the data matches the filters, before synchronization leaves the data only in CRM On Demand.

Editing records so they dont match filters will keep record visible, but empty associations
Record pinning will keep any records created in the client visible for a configurable period of time. The same process applies to editing records if the edit means the record no longer matches the synchronization filters, the record will (after a configurable period of time) be removed from Outlook. As the record no longer matches filters, the associated records are properly no longer syncd but due to pinning the parent record remains visible in case the user inadvertently made the edit and wants to keep the record. Editing the record to match the filters again will re-synchronize associated records.

Client no longer displays <Inaccessible record>

In version 2.0.1.5, CRM On Demand Desktop no longer displays <Inaccessible record> for associated records that have not been synced to Outlook.

Upgrading to Release 2 Patch 1

There are two components to Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop, the metadata files and the program files. The program files can be upgraded simply by installing Release 2 Patch 1. However, before doing so, determine the approach used to upgrade the metadata files. If you are using previous CRM On Demand Release 2 versions (Version 2.0.x), it is recommended to run Release 2 Patch 1 installation files directly to overwrite your older installation. If you see a Package is not compatible error during initial synchronization either after a clean installation (i.e., uninstall older Release 2 version first and then install Release 2 Patch 1) or after a package update, you need to change the version numbers in info.xml (located in <Install Path>\ CRM OnDemand Desktop\Profile\Data folder) to 2.0.1.5 and republish your package. When upgrading the Metadata, you can either update the file with changes necessary to allow Release 2 Patch 1 to leverage the existing configuration, or redo the configurations in the default metadata files provided with Release 2 Patch 1. Note customers who are currently using previous Oracle CRM On Demand Release 2 versions (Version 2.0.x) do not need to update the Metadata to upgrade to Release 2 Patch 1.

Option 1: Redoing Configurations

The first option is to implement any configuration done with Release 1 in the Release 2 Patch 1 metadata files. This option is suited for simple configurations, such as adding a few new fields.

Option 2: Upgrade Release 1 (Version 1.0.2.6) metadata files

If you have completed a lot of custom configuration, then modifying your existing metadata file is the recommended option. Please refer to Upgrading Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop from Version 1 in the Oracle CRM On Demand Desktop Configuration Guide. The guide is included in the .ZIP file downloaded from Oracle eDelivery.
