The following questions suggest the type of information you could include: a) How does your business try to ensure a beneficial impact of your practices and activities on local communities and society as a whole? eg do you have any code of conduct or standards covering any aspect of corporate citizenship or are you involved with your local community? b) What activities do you undertake to foster good relations with local communities? eg working with them on local issues c) How do you evaluate the social limpact of your activities on local communities, and how do you report on them in the community? d) Do you have operations in third world or developing countries? If so, are you satisfied that these are conducted with proper regard for the current and future welfare of the people employed there? e) Environmental impact of business operations: Are environmental considerations integrated into your management philosophy and systems, design and production of your products or the performance of your services? f) Do you undertake environmental impact assessments of major projects? g) Do you have any stated environmental governance, for example an energy efficiency strategy or recycling policy?

1. What is the purpose of the RTCC Climate Change Awards? The RTCC awards are designed to recognise and encourage the achievements by businesses around the world in the fields of clean energy, climate change and sustainable development. 2. When were the RTCC Climate Change Awards introduced? The first RTCC awards will be in 2013 3. What are the timings? These are annual awards. Entries must be submitted by 15 September 2013. 4. Is there an entry fee? No, but winners will have to cover their own costs if they wish to attend the awards in Warsaw. 5. What are the eligibility criteria for these awards? Entrants must be able be able to demonstrate environmental integrity and commercial success over a minimum of two or three years, depending on the category entered Businesses are required to provide assurances of responsible conduct in managing the impact on society and the environment, in the selection and control of suppliers, management of the production process and of human resources, and customer service. They need to provide evidence of success in these fields, including any specific initiatives. Such evidence will count in the entrants favour. Entries are assessed against the criteria for the Award in question as well as against other businesses in their sector. Any entries that may bring a reputational risk to the Awards will not be accepted 6. How do I complete an entry form? Entries must be made on the appropriate forms which are available, together with the accompanying guidance notes, from the RTCC Awards website at: www.rtcc.org. PDF copies may be downloaded for drafting purposes but all forms must be submitted online. Entrants should complete forms fully and accurately, taking care to closely follow the instructions for each section and provide as much information as possible. 7. Can I enter more than one award category? Yes, provided you meet the relevant criteria

8. How do I submit an entry form? Completed entries must be emailed to awards@rtcc.org. Entrants will receive an e-mail acknowledgement from RTCC confirming their entry has been received. In November, entrants will be notified if their entry has been shortlisted for the Awards 9. What happens after I submit my form? Following an independent technical assessment of your entry, if you are shortlisted you may be asked to provide further information relating to commercial performance figures/estimates and compliance with the applicable accounting standards in preparing the entry. 10. How are the entries assessed and who judges them? During October and November, entries are assessed for each Award category against the relevant criteria by contracted, independent technical assessors and a shortlist is drawn up. The shortlist is considered by panels of judges, made up of public and private sector experts, which appraise the relative merits and commercial success of the entrant businesses. The membership of the judging panel will be revealed at the COP19 UN talks in Warsaw.
