2 DOCUMENT III-2: PARTICULAR SPECIFICATIONS SECTION 01100 - SUMMARY PART 1 GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including Conditions of Contract and other Division 1 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS A. Project Identification: Project comprises the design construction, completion and remedying defects during the Defects Liability Period of the works under Kuwait International Airport, Package 2- Administration Building & Fire Stations. B. The Employer: Directorate General of Civil Aviation - Government Sector Projects at Kuwait International Airport. C. The Engineer: Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (Shair & Partners) in association with Jassim Qabazard Engineering Consultants. D. The Works in this Contract briefly includes but is not limited to the design and execution of the following: 1. Design development and construction of the Fire Stations. 2. Design development and construction of Administration Building with its Car Park. 3. Installation of all necessary electromechanical Works, Utilities, landscaping, irrigation and roads. 1.3 CONTRACTS A. The Government Sector Projects at Kuwait International Airport will be constructed under multiple contracts (Packages) as detailed in the Employer's Requirements (Document III-1). B. These separate Sections/Packages and contracts, represent significant construction activities, that are correlated with the Works under this Package 2. The different parts of the works under this Contract may be performed sequentially or concurrently or partially sequentially and partly concurrently and require to be coordinated closely with construction activities performed under other sections/packages and contracts. Sections/Packages and contracts for this Project include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Package 1: Runways 15C/33C, Taxiways, Aprons & Access Roads. 2. Package 3: Runways 15L/33R and 15R/33L, Taxiways and Aprons

Coordination is identified in Division 1 Section "Summary of Multiple Contracts". 1.4 WORK SEQUENCE A. The Work shall be executed in parallel and completed in the stages defined in the Employer's Requirements and within the periods set in the Appendix to Tender. 1.5 WORK UNDER OTHER CONTRACTS A. Separate Contract: The Employer has awarded and will award separate contracts for performance of certain construction operations at, or in the proximity of, the Site. These operations are scheduled to be either substantially complete before work under this Contract begins, or conducted concurrently with work under this Contract. The separate contracts include, but not by way of limitation, the following: 1. Package 1: Runways 15C/33C, Taxiways, Aprons & Access Roads. 2. Package 3: Runways 15L/33R and 15R/33L, Taxiways and Aprons 3. Projects under Construction a. Kuwait Airspace System Plan (KASP) b. Kuwait Aviation Fuelling Company (KAFCO) c. Fuel Support Facility d. Main Jet Fuel Line e. Existing Cargo Apron Extension f. Taxiways surrounding Fuel Support Facility g. VVIP Area h. Electrical Substations i. New Airport Fence and Gates 4. Planned Projects a. Pax. Terminal 2 Building b. Catering Facility c. Air Force Compound d. South and North Power Stations e. Interchanges at the access points to the airport f. Aircraft Maintenance B. Cooperate fully and coordinate with separate contractors and Programme the Works so that work on those contracts may be carried out efficiently and effectively. The Contractor shall also replan his activities to minimize interference with other contractors.

Future Contracts: The Employer reserves the right to perform additional work and/or award further separate contracts for performance of additional work at the Project Site; whether concurrently with, or after substantial completion of, Work under this Contract. Performance and completion of such additional work may depend on successful completion of preparatory work under this Contract. B. Cooperate fully and coordinate with any future construction forces and/or separate contractors as necessary, and Programme the Works so far as reasonably possible so that work on those contracts may be carried out efficiently and effectively, without interfering with or delaying work under this Contract. In Particular, Aprons Contractor shall schedule and organize some of the pavement works around the buildings to have them executed only after the Buildings Contractor completes the surrounds of the buildings.
