Acoustics - Noise emitted by accelerating road vehicle - permitted maximum noise
level
1. Scope of application
This standard providing the regulation on permitted maximum noise level to noise
emitted by accelerating road vehicle. This standard is applied to kind recognizing test,
test in production and new imported checking road vehicle are not used according to
kinds L, M, N
2. Quoted standard
− TCVN 6552 - 1999 (ISO - 362: 1998) Acoustics measurement of noise emitted
by accelerating road vehicle - Engineering method).
− TCVN 6211: 1996 (ISO 3833 - 1977), Road vehicle - model - term and
definition.
− TCVN 6529: 1999 (ISO 1176 - 1990), Road vehicle - Volume - term, definition
and code.
− ISO 9645: 1990, Acoustics - Measurement of noise emitted by two - Wheeled
mopeds in motion - Engineering method.
3. Kind of means
Road vehicle - Model L, M, N in this standard is defined in TCVN 6552: 1999 and
TCVN 6211: 1996.
4. Limit value
Noise emitted by accelerating road vehicle is measured by method stipulated in
TCVN 6552 - 1999, with two wheeled mopeds is measured according to ISO 9645:
1990, shall observe to the regulations as follows:
4.1. Model recogning test:
4.1.1. Noise level measured not exceeded correlative value with each kind of means as
mentioned in the table 1, according to level 1 or level 2 to each means. The timing
date of application of level 1 or level 2 fixed by the competent authority.

4.1.2. In several special cases, permitted maximum noise level is stipulated more as
follows:
a. Means is under kind of M1, M2 and N1 with G ¡Ü 3500 kg mounting direct ejecting
diesel engine permitted value in above table 1 is permitted to add 1dB (A);
b. According to level 1, if means is designed for running on uneven road or having
active four - wheeled, permitted values in above table 1 is per
c. According to level 2, if means is designed for running on uneven road and G >
2009, permitted values in above table is permitted to add as follows:
When P < 150kW, add 1dB (A);
When P ¡Ý 150 kW, add 2dB (A);
d. For means with kind of M1, when hand digital forward digital of gear box is greater
than 4, P > 140 kW, the ratio between the greatest power on the greatest permitted

total volume is greater than 0,075 kW/kg and when tested by above method,
velocity of vehicle when the vehicle tail is basing through straight road BB (see
TCVN 6552: 1999) of test area with forward digital is to be used is 3 greater than
61 km/h, the value noted in the table 1 is permitted to add 1 dB (A).
Note:
D = greatest useful power of engine
CC = working capacity of engine cylinder
G = greatest permitted total volume of means according to TCVN 6529 : 1999 (ISO
1176: 1990)
4.2. Test in production and check imported means:
42.1. Measured noise level of means: two wheeled mopeds, vehicle with kind of L3,
L4 and L5 are not exceeded 3 dB (A) compared with measuring value in model
recogning test or not be exceed 1dB (A) compared with correlative value with to
each kind of means above mentioned in the table 1.
4.2.2. Measured noise level of means is under kinds of M and N is not exceeded 1dB
(A) compared with correlative value to means above mentioned in the table 1.
