What is love?

So many people, so many different answers. But, there is only one right answer. We find this answer in the Bible. That's right, the Bible. The word of God defines what love is. The definition is in 1 Cor. 13:4-8 "Love is patient and kind; Love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. LOVE NEVER ENDS". True love, whether between friends and family, ones lover or enemy, does not change or end. This is not the same as the love that the world gives, the kind of love that people fall so easily in and out of, but the everlasting love of God, who is love. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of this same God. The Spirit of God, being love, makes it easy to identify which spirit is working through individuals. The fruits of the Holy Spirit are, as stated in Gala. 5:22, "...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law". Verse 25, "If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another." When the Bible says, "you shall know them by their fruits", you need to know what fruits you are looking for in order to identify who is of God, and who is of the devil. If you have the Spirit of God in you, his fruits you will display, albeit imperfectly. Yet, if the Spirit of God does not live in you, there is only one other spirit of whom the fruits thereof are unto death and destruction, as hate, malice, envy, impatience, pride and anger, these being in contrast to the fruits of the Spirit, will end. Only love is eternal, and God is love. The only question now is, who should we love? This answer is also given in the word of God. There is not a single verse that answers this question, but many. I will only quote a couple. But, I encourage those who want to know God better to explore the subject of love more deeply, because once you discover true love, you discover God himself. The first quote is in Luke 6:27-28, "...love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, Bless

them that curse you...". I would suggest a prayerful read of this whole chapter. Also, Matt. 5:44 reiterates. In Mark 12:31 we are commanded to not only love our brothers, but to love our neighbors as ourselves. The test of whether or not we have the Spirit of God in us is given in 1 John 3:23-24, "...And this is the commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit which he has given us." The Spirit of God is love, and his fruits are what? The ultimate test of whether or not we have the Spirit of God is that we love not only our brothers, as even the wicked do, but that we love our enemies also. This verse is found in Matt. 5:46, "...For if you love only them that love you, what reward have you?" With this in mind, I would like to point out several flaws with a few professed christians. Those baptist who go around name calling and spreading hate for homosexuals are a great example of others that have come to my own attention on You Tube, among other venues. When the first impression of your faith is a display of hate, you do God a dis service. You put off those that you are meant to reach for Christ. There is an old saying my Grandmother used to say to me, "you attract more bees with honey". You can't teach the hard things of the faith to a person who you turn away. The love of God is the same for each and every person on the planet, and it is this love that brings people to the faith, not hateful words. Not curses. We are not to curse anyone, for any reason, as this example will show: Murph (The name has been changed to protect the guilty) posted a comment 2 hours ago I have the power to curse you you and all those in your family and I do so now in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, The Son of The Living God. Cursed are you going in and cursed are you going out. The spirits of hell that already own you are now given authority to consume you. It is done. This was a comment posted by a professed christian. He says also, that I have spit in the face of Christ with my postings. I have no idea of what he speaks, but it was his venomous comments that have spurred me into the most important message of the Bible, love. There are more verses about love in the Bible than there are on any other subject matter, and yet so many so called christians miss it. The very nature of God. How can anyone claim to know God and be so toxic to humanity? I understand attacking an issue or a falsehood, but a personal attack on any individual, to the point of pompously believing that you can curse them and their whole family into hell, is absurd, and very much unchrist-like, against every tenet of the faith, and against the very heart of God.

Tolerance of sinners does not equate to tolerance for sin. Embrace those who in your righteousness you would not. Caress them. Smother them with the love of God. Win them for the kingdom. Win them for Christ. For he, God, so loved the world that he gave his only begotten... Not, for he so loved a few good people that he gave his only begotten... Pull the beam out of your own eye. Realize your own sin. "He who is forgiven much, loves much." Realize how much you have been, or need to be forgiven, so that you also can love. "There are none good, no not one." Romans 3:10If you can not know yourself first, you can not know God. Know that you are a sinner. Even in our righteousness we are as filthy rags. Do not pump yourself up against your fellow man. May God richly Bless and keep you unto that day of his coming, which shall be as a burning oven; and the proud and all they that do wickedly, shall be stubble. Malachi 4:1Remember; The spirit that becomes evident in those around you, gives them away. Whether a spirit that loves unto death, or a spirit that spews hate and hateful words, it will be revealed. You shall know them by their fruits. What spirit do you have? Don't you crave the love that never dies? This is the love of God, and is God. As a true christian, we need to be the vehicles of Gods love, by his Spirit working in us, so that others can experience God, love, through us. Be a vehicle for God. Be a true christian.
