PART - A (10 x 2 = 20) Answer ALL the Questions What is the difference between first angle and third angle projection? What is a regular polygon? Give three examples of solids of revolutions. Define frustum. What is a frustum of a solid and differentiate between a section and a sectional view. What is meant by the development of a solid? What is its purpose? State the purpose of sectioning. Perspective projection may also be called conical projection why? What is a projection?

10. What is meant by an orthographic projection? PART B (5 x 12 = 60) Answer All the Questions 11. (a) List the different type of scales and briefly explain three types of the scales.

(b) Construct an ellipse having a major axis 100mm and 70mm. Locate its foci and directrixes and find the eccentricity. (or) 12. (a) A point at 25mm above the reference line XY is the front view of two points A and B. The top view of A is 40mm behind V.P and the top view of B is 50mm in front of V.P. Draw the projections of the points and state their positions relative to the planes of projection and quadrants in which they lie. (b) A room is 5m x 4.5m x 3.5m high. Determine the distance between the top corner and the bottom corner diagonally opposite to it, by drawing the projections of the line joining the two corners. 13. A pentagonal prism of base side 25 mm and axis length 50 mm rests on the HP on one of the base corners with the base edges containing it being equally inclined to the HP. The axis is inclined at 45 to the HP and the plane containing the axis is inclined at 30 to the VP. Draw the projections of the prism. (or) 14. A square of base edge 30 mm and altitude 40 mm has one of its slant faces in the VP and the edge of the base contained by that face is inclined at 45 to the HP. Draw the projections of the pyramid when the vertex is in the HP. 15. A cone of base 40mm diameter and axis 55mm long lies on one of its generators on H.P, with its axis parallel to V.P. A horizontal section plane bisects the axis of the cone. Draw the projections of the retained portion of the solid. (or) 16. A cylinder of diameter of base 40mm and axis 55mm long is resting on its base on H.P. It is cut by a section plane, perpendicular to V.P and inclined at 45 to H.P. The section plane is passing through the top end of an extreme generator of

the cylinder. Draw the development of the lateral surface of the cut cylinder. 17. Draw the isometric projection of a frustum of a cone of base diameter 60 mm, top base diameter 35 mm and axis length 50 mm rests on HP on its base. (or) 18. A cube of edge 50 mm rests with one of the faces on the ground, the nearest vertical edge being 10 mm to the left of the station point and 25 mm behind PP. A face containing the nearest vertical edge is inclined at 60 to the PP. The station point is 75 mm above the ground and 100 mm infront of PP. Draw the perspective view of the cube. 19. Draw the front view, top view and left side view of the object shown in figure. (All dimensions are in mm).

(or)

20. Draw the isometric view of the ribbed angle plate, shown in Figure. All dimensions are in mm.
