INFORM ETIC A’S PUBLIS HING W INDOW

Informetica’s Publishing Window (page editor) utilizes a WYSWYG editor to make it as easy as possible for non-technical Administrators and
Instructors to edit content. With our editor, you can format text, insert media files such as video and photos, add hyperlinks, paste existing content from
Microsoft Word, insert tables, insert CSS, add templates and more using familiar tools that are found in most office productivity programs.

If you prefer working in code view, simply click the Edit HTML Source button to open the Source Editor.

Resizing the Publishing Window

You can easily increase or decrease the

height and width of the Publishing Window
by clicking and dragging the bottom right
corner of the window.

What is WYSIWYG?

A WYSIWYG (pronounced "wiz-ee-wig") editor is one that allows a developer to see what the end result will look like while the interface or document is
being created. WYSIWYG is an acronym for "what you see is what you get". A WYSIWYG editor can be contrasted with more traditional editors that
require the developer to enter code (markup) and do not permit an immediate way to see the results of the markup.

Informetica’s WYSIWYG editor uses familiar tools found in most popular office productivity programs and conceals the markup and allows the page
developer to think entirely in terms of how the content should appear.

M EDI A LIBR ARY

Informetica supports a range of media files (images, video, audio, documents and html) which
Publishers can add to their courses. Once a file is uploaded, it is stored in a Media Library
which can be accessed in Edit Mode and allows for easy insertion of files into a course. There
are two types of Media Libraries in Informetica: Global and Local. Files in the Global Media
Library can be accessed from any course throughout the system but can only be uploaded by
Administrators. Files in the Local Media Library can only be inserted into the course in which
they were uploaded to. Publishers can upload files to the Local Media Library.

The Media Library Panel (figure 1c-1) is accessible in Edit Mode. The Media Library Panel
provides a link to the upload tool as well as a list of existing files and a filtering tool for searching
the library. GIFs and JPEGs display a thumbnail of the image next to the name while all other files
display a unique icon next to the filename.
