The site has a facility to search for consultants by location or name. The Training Standards for Endonasal DCR, which provide general guidelines for consultant ophthalmologists and otorhinolaryngologists who wish to perform Endonasal DCR for the first time, can be downloaded from this site. British Ophthalmic Anaesthesia Society : BOAS http://www.boas.org/ The home page for the British Ophthalmic Anaesthesia Society (BOAS) which was established in 1998 by Dr. Chandra M Kumar, a consultant anaesthetist in the UK. The BOAS enables anaesthetists and ophthalmologists to facilitate cooperation on all matters concerned with the safety, efficacy and efficiency of anaesthesia for ophthalmic surgery. The site contains a calendar of forthcoming events and access to the BOAS newsletter. Centre for Vision and Vascular Sciences : Queen's University of Belfast http://www.qub.ac.uk/researchcentres/CentreforVisionandVascularScience/ The home page for the Centre for Vision and Vascular Sciences at the Queen's University of Belfast. The CVVS is a focused research grouping within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences. Its pages describe many of the conditions that patients attending a District General Hospital suffer from. The site is published on the Web by Dr Peter Scanlon, an associate specialist in ophthalmology at Cheltenham General Hospital. Institute of Ophthalmology http://www.ucl.ac.uk/ioo/ The UCL Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorfields Eye Hospital is the largest single site for eye care and research in the world. The website contains information about the Institute including its background, strategy and achievements. Details of research programmes at the Institute are provided and focus on genetics, gene therapy, cell transplantation, cell biology, disease processes, and visual rehabilitation. Also within the site are details of courses, seminars, jobs and links to sites of related interest. A link to the Joint Library of the Institute of Ophthalmology and Moorlands Eye Hospital is available. Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Trust http://www.moorfields.nhs.uk/Home The home page of the Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Trust which is located in London. The Moorfields Eye Hospital is a postgraduate teaching hospital and a national centre for ophthalmic care which was established in 1805. This site provides information about the consultants at Moorfields Eye Hospital and their ophthalmic specialities, general information for patients and their families with regard to eye problems, patient services, a listing of research articles, a listing of further education courses in specialist areas, medical personnel recruitment, and an archive of press releases issued by the hospital in the last 6 months. This site is aimed at anyone interested in ophthalmology and eye diseases, and there is also information for the public.

The collection provides access 24/7 to online resources produced, commissioned or licensed by the NHS (e.g. Health Technology Assessment reports, NICE guidelines, National Service Frameworks, Centre for Reviews and Dissemination abstracts, the Cochrane Library); and professional body publications. Their statistics and data collections page for eye care brings together government statistics for optometry and ophthalmology for England and Wales. The reports cover workforce and activity statistics, for example, how many test are carried out and how many are paid for. The full reports can be downloaded in PDF format (requiring Adobe Acrobat), with the data downloadable in Excel format. Nurses eye site http://www.nurseseyesite.nhs.uk/ This site provides access to online resources for ophthalmic nurses in the UK, and is run by healthcare practitioners from the Ophthalmic Unit at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The website contains information on a range of specialist areas such as glaucoma, cataract, vitreoretinal, conditions treated in primary care and paediatric conditions. This includes protocols, patient leaflets and other general information. Royal College of Ophthalmologists http://www.rcophth.ac.uk/ This is the website for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists which provides information about the college, its origins, exams, events, publications and departments. There is a collection of online patient information leaflets, and details of the College's publications are provided and many can be accessed online. The site is aimed at medical students, the general public and academics.
