For me, the most meaningful activities were...

the continuing discussion around rigor and how to identify the elements

Noni Reis' w/ IDing 5 practices

equitable practices activity

the review of 27 equitable practices

Choosing 5 top strategies

1) cross-talk between 2's, 4's & 8's discussing perspectives

The 27 evidence statements

reflectively looking at what rigor is & looks like

Looking at 27 rigorous practices and deciding on most important.

indicators of rigor

looking at evidence of equitable practices worksheets.

developing essential questions & action plan

-shared discussions re: rigor

Thinking about the inclusion of myself when we use the word "teacher." (the observation Orlando made.)

looking at equitable practices

Evidence of Equitable Practices List

-Evidence of Equitable/Inequitable activity

-great conversation & debate

Discussion about rigor & excellence

For me, the most practical experience was...
sharing the thoughts and finding common ground

Noni Reis' w/ IDing 5 practices

equitable practices activity

the list

Refining equitable practices

1) discussing the why's/why we choose a particular teaching element

The Evidence of Equity activity

students & rigor

Reviewing equitable practices w/ self & gradually larger group. Helped clarify thinking.

27 Classroom practices - both the list and the process

Tools for use in school setting - ie: staff meeting

list of practices

strategies to work with students (27 equitable practices)

Exposure to the 27 Equitable Practices & evaluating their impact

looking at equitable practices

Evidence of Equitable Practices List

more of an awareness that rigor doesn't always mean equity & visa versa.

what to look for in our future walk-throughs

I wish...

we had chocolate

There was more time to have these deep conversations - the management of tasks seems to overwhelm these effective
activities

1) w/ more time for quiet reflection on where we are @ w/out discussion

for time allocated for more effective staff development - perhaps smaller sites - more $
A better world

For more lists of best practices

we had discussed the working w/ a teacher piece more in depth for those of us that don't have as much contact w/
teachers day to day

I could move my staff more quickly thru the equity process & awareness.
On (next day) I hope we...

go in more depth on how to roll this out

Continue to alternate between different presenters

Continue to discuss rigor and share what it looks like in our classrooms.

Explore the idea that Noni brought up re: political factors of educating students.

have a conversation w/ some of my teachers about rigor in the classroom & what it looks & sounds like.

Comments:
Thank you!

Thank you

homework assignments difficult for district office staff to complete as we don't always have relationship to teachers/school
programs.

Thank you!

I liked hearing from different facilitators and hearing their different points of view during the different activities
