1. Explain the physiological changes to skeletal muscle and connective tissue after flexible training.

a) The muscles will become longer because the reflex mechanism of muscle spindle occurs at greater range of movement, muscle spindle becomes used to the length of stretched muscle, stimulus to the stretch reflex is reduced, strength reflex is increased b) Increased elasticity

2. List THREE reasons why there has been a growth in leisure time. a) Higher incomes and shorter work hours. These days people got paid handsomely for what they have been doing. Apart from that, the networking hours may be less because many prefer to work from home. So they have more time to spend on themselves. b) Time management People getting to realize the importance of manage their time well so that they can separate of the business and leisure apart. c) Family & Health come first As we grow older, we seem to realize that money cannot buy love and happiness. So that is why recently there is a growth in leisure time as people start getting to plan for leisure and pleasure for the sake of family and health.

3. List FIVE factors which influence a persons decision to take part in sports. a) Media- people have been influenced with the Medias that show every aspect of sports that gather their interest. b) Motivation- sometimes they have their own motivation to take part in sports. c) Personality- they have the talent to be an athlete. d) Health- some take part in sports for the sake of health. e) Fun- many people make decision to take part in sports just for fun and to fulfill their leisure time.

4. Identify the type of strength most relevant to a 100m sprinter. Design a weight training programmed to improve this type of strength. IDENTIFICATION Dynamic/ elastic/ explosive strength/ power

WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAMME: a. (specificity) Exercise the muscle groups relevant to a 100m sprinter/ Leg curls, leg extensions b. (Overload/Progression) Increase number of sets/ reps/ decrease rest time/ increase intensity/weight/ frequency c. (Moderation) do not do to much to soon d. (Frequency) 3 7 times a week e. (Intensity) 75% - 85% of 1RM f. (Sets) 3- 6 g. (Reps) 5- 10 h. (Rest) Relief ratio 1.3

5. Outline and discuss the physiological processes that will happen during a fiveminute recovery phase following an intense period of anaerobic exercise. Recovery a) (Processes will occur that) return the body to its pre-exercise state. b) This happens during EPOC/excess post-exercise oxygen consumption/oxygen used to repay the oxygen debt. c) Elevated heart/respiratory rates maintained to maintain a high body temperature.

Alactacid a) Alactacid/rapid recovery phase b) To restore myoglobin with oxygen c) Muscle phosphogen stores / ATP/PC are restored. d) Takes 23 minutes for full recovery / 50% in 30 seconds. e) Use up to 4 litres of oxygen (over and above resting levels). Lactacid a) Lactacid phase/debt/slow recovery phase b) Lactic acid is removed /oxidised. c) Takes place in the mitochondria (via the aerobic system)/Cori cycle. d) Converted to CO2/H2O/glycogen/glucose/protein/pyruvic acid.
