We started with spelling list #1 this week - focusing on single-letter phonograms in one syllable words. As an addition to our spelling program, students have also started using their spelling notebook to list down words that they have misspelled in class. They will bring their notebook home on Fridays to bring them back on Monday. We need them in the classroom everyday. Handwriting sheets will also be sent home once in a while. 23rd August, 2013 Re: School Photographer and School Photographs

Dear Parents and Guardians, Chatsworth international School has changed school photographers this year. The new company, Pret a Portrait, works with schools around the world and offers wonderful photos with the ease of online ordering (paper ordering still available) where photos can be sent to different locations (you can have them sent right to the grandparents) in addition to your home here in Singapore. We are delighted to be working with Pret a Portrait and we look forward to a great photo experience for all of our families this year. Important Details

School photos will take place from the 16th September to 19th September at Chatsworth East (class schedules similar to previous years). We have an earlier date this year so that they are ready for Christmas ordering and delivery A photography schedule to be sent home in advance. Class and individual photos take place on the same day Parents can schedule times for sibling or family photos if they wish. This can be done via reception at Chatsworth East. Students will have approximately 20 photographs taken and all photos are uploaded to the Pret a Portrait website. Parents are sent individual passwords to log in, view and select photos, and make payment online (paper ordering will still be available) Included in your childs photos on the website will be the whole class photos and any school sports teams he/she participates in so that these can be purchased as well Photos will be delivered to Chatsworth East (unless you have chosen for them to be sent to an alternate address) and sent home with your child as normal

Another advantage of having the photos stored digitally with Pret a Portrait is that, for as long as your child is in the school, parents can go back to previous years and order older prints, or even combine them for a collage of photos of your child. The samples I have seen of children from kindergarten through high school in one collage look wonderful. We are very excited at the new options our families will have with school photography. Pret a Portrait will come back to school in the third week of February in order to take photos of students who may have been absent, as well as for photos of new students. They will also be available at this time for sibling photos and family photos again, if you missed it the first time. The exact dates are not final yet but they will likely be the 19th and 20th of February. We will confirm this date early in the Second Semester.
