Communicative Competence When we talk about communicative competence, it is referring the skill of how the people develop speaking

in front of many people. According to Canals definition, we most conceder the competence that are involved to achieve communicative competence in each communication task, there are, grammar, discourses, sociolinguistics and strategic. Grammatical competence involves the usage of morphology, syntax, semantic and phonology. Those usages are very important inside of communicative competence, due to, helps to have more natural when the person is going to talk. Second is discourses, it refers when the speakers has the ability to talk to any topic. In this case, vocabulary plays an important role, due to, the speakers lack to vocabulary means that he or she is not prepare to talk about the topic and he or she shown insecure. Sociolinguistic competence means the speaker has to know the social context, hence, the speaker has to know, when, where and with who has to talk. The last one is strategic competence; it is refer the speaker use both kind of communication, verbal and nonverbal, it means when the speaker start to talk, he or she has to use body language (mimics, gestures, etc).

Furthermore, Bachman talks about manipulate the function of language and functions are the purpose that we accomplish with language, but this is not achieve without the form of language (morphemes, words, grammar rules, discourse rules). According to John Austins (1962) term communication is a series of communicative act or speech act, in which is using to accomplish a purpose, moreover Michael Halliday display seven different function of language. Instrumental function: it is when the environments is manipulated and use the instrument to communicate specific acts. e.g. do not touch my hair

Regulatory function: the purpose to of this function language is maintain control of events through rules and this rules has to be obey, but this is achieve through function language

Representational function: it is when the language is usage to transmit facts, knowledge report, based on reality situation, as the person perceives it. e.g. it is raining Interactional function: it refers to build and maintain a communication with the society, either by social networks or face to face taking into considering vocabulary about, slang, jargon, jokes, cultures, etc. due to it is important to know when, where and with who, you are going to use it. Personal function: it helps to speaker express her or his feelings, emotion and personality. Heuristic function: refers how human beings used to acquire knowledge and wants to know everything about his or her environment, this implies many questions that induce to answer. Child use this kind of language due to, they wants to know how world works. Imaginative function: this function serves to create an imagination or ideas human beings has the capacity to create other world inside to her or his mind like, fairy tales and actions that he or she wants to happen. In addition poetry, tongue twisters, puns also fall into imaginative function.
