ADHASTHALA

Brass, which shines as fair to the ignorant, as gold to the goldsmiths.

Architecture being a process and product of planning and designing has been reinventing itself since time immemorial-from 19th century, architect of skyscrapers Louis Sullivan promoting form follows function to 21st century architect Toyo ITO promoting Conceptual Architecture. With the passage of time, our style of architecture is reinventing, rejuvenating & recreating itself every single day, following to this, with new technologies and innovation, we have achieved a series of approach, where from using local building materials, today we are focusing on sustainable architecture. Adhasthala, which is the theme of ZONASA 2013, has been derived from Sanskrit word , which means malleableness or remolding depicts an important aspect of Moradabad -a brass city. Brass, an alloy of historical and enduring importance since ancient times, has been known for its hardness and workability. Malleability, one of its important property makes it more relevant and requisite around the globe. It signifies the capability of adjusting to circumstance or of being amenable. Brass being malleable gets easily remolded or reshaped to an authentic piece of art and decoration. Today, the concept of malleability in architecture with variability has been more evident because of existing contemporary digital culture. Malleability is not simply limited to architectural material property; it is liberation from constraints of resolution that responds to contingency. It is to describe structures, design, planning & orientation of architectural buildings.

A typical conception of architecture is to mute various changes to ultimately ensure stability. But with growing time the concept of malleability has always existed, for instance in various iteration during the design process and is making its existence felt at every stage as in the inevitable weathering and decay of buildings .Even though malleability has existed in architecture ,somehow our discourse turns a blind eye to this truth .Now is the time to remove this unwarranted aversion to malleability .Our contemporary architecture process is full of life .So why do we kill this process to construct the building???

When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, dont adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.
Intelligent and prudent Architect should have long known that in changing the world, worthy institution can be conserved only by adjusting them to the changing time. To achieve the desired fit, appearance or result, in life, man should permit small alteration or plasticity so as to achieve the grand slam. Henceforth, a proficient Architect should have Adhasthala as his virtue.
