Please send along with this form copies of recommendations from churches which will encourage
other churches to support your missionary work. There are churches which will not allow a
visiting missionary to speak unless a church recommendation can be shown. Since it is impos
sible for any one person to know all Christians in the world, this recommendation by a respon
sible New Testament church is a vital help in persuading others of your worthiness and the value
of your mission. Mission Services stands ready to help you inform HORIZONS readers about
your church recommendations. Since the church is sending you to the mission field (Acts 13:1-3)
and will help provide the necessary needs on the field, naturally the church should share the
credit in your missionary ministry. One of the ways that the church can do this is to share their
conviction regarding your missionary ministry with others. Certainly, their words mil help
convince others regarding the worthiness of your work. Please help MISSION SERVICES to
spread your news through HORIZONS, Packets and Slide library by sending your church recom
mendations as soon as possible. Thanks. Send what you have now, and the others later.

Lloyd, Audrey, Mary Beth,
Linda-Kay, and Jomo
Thisthoughtthoughsimple reminds usforcefully that it is the littlethings that make theworld a better
place. You in your small corner andI in mine are tryingtomake this a reality bysharingourblessings
with others. 1977has been a wonderful year for us and we are thankful that you, our friends, are a part of
it. On the 16thof May, Mary Beth, Linda-Kayand I left Montego Bay Jamaicafor theU.S.A. tovisit with
our brothers and sisters. Audrey and Jomo were to join us some two months later.
It was a great thrill to seeso many ofour friends after somany years. As wetravelledfromarea toarea
wefound God's people willingto continue sharing their blessings with us. It was goodfor us to beaway
from our work for a while. Wehad the opportunity of looking at ourselves, our country, our people and we
were able to assess our achievements and make plans for the future.
Our summer tour made us come alive becausewe continuouslyexperienced God's loveshown to us by
Christians everywhere. We listened toChristians speak ofGod's love through thespoken word, through
fellowship inhomes, through Bible studies, Daily Vacation Bible School, camps andwe were blessed. I
learned many newthings that I am nowteaching my congregation.
We would like to thank all the church groups, individuals and couples who shared their homes and
themselves with us this summer. Thanks for opening your homes and churches to us. Thank you for
making arrangements for ustoshareourwork with you. Christians, we arealla partofthebody ofChrist
and he is pleased with us.
We now have all the equipment to complete the School of Cosmotology. We are now able to
accommodate sixty students in a one year course. Our school will be the largest of its kind in Western
Jamaica. Please pray for us that the Lordwilluse us to influence these students toknowhim personally as
Lord of their lives.
Christmas is a season that has always been celebrated in song. In connection with the Saviour's birth
Luke records three inspired songs, full of beauty and wonder. In the presence of Elizabeth, the Virgin
Mary sang "THE MAGNIFICANT", My soul doth magnify the Lord and my Spirit rejoices in Godmy
Saviour" Luke 1:46.
At Christ's birth the angelic choir sang"Glory to Godin the highest and on earth peace goodwill toward
men".
Whenthe infant, Jesus was takeninto the temple a man righteous and devout, looking forthe consolation
of Israel. .. took him up in his arms and blessed Him. Thus did Simeon with his famous words, "Lord
lettest thouthy servant depart in peace, accordingtothy workfor mineeyeshaveseenthy salvation which
thou has preparedin the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the gentilesand forglorytomy
people Israel." Luke 2:29, 30.
As Christians He has set our feet upon the rock. He has put in ourmouths anewsong, of praises to God.
This way of thinking brings us to the veryessence ofChristmas withits heraldingofpeace onearth and
good will to men.
On the plains of Bethlehemthe night of the Christ Child's birth there was needfor this message about
peace. In the hearts of those shepherdsthere were feelings offear. Today, in waysbeyond numberthere
are all sorts of fears. The worst of these fears man has brought upon himself.
However, the message of Christ comes to dispel all our fears ever as on those Judean hills. The angels
said "Fear not!" which has become the essence of God's message to us.
Today if there is anyone who feels that life is futile, that no one understands his plights, that no one
listens to his prayers, I say to such a one that Jesus is standing by.
REMEMBER
Every other religion pictures man as reaching up for God, Christianity pictures Godreaching down to
man. Christianity is not an achievement. It is an acceptance. At Christmas weought to think about glad
acceptance of a gift that we can never begin to repay.
Today think about the Lord Jesus sitting at the other end ofthe dining table, across the living roomor
even standing at the door, as He offers yousalvation, full andfree. He nods-it is for you dear fnend-as it is
for me! Hewants youto acceptSalvationas Hisgift toyou. TaketheLordJesus as yourChristmasgift.
By doingso you will forever rejoice and sing"Gloryto God inthe highest and onearthpeacegoodwill to all
men".
At this time we put our commitment to you.
Our personal needs of $600.00 pledged support monthly.
May God's peace be yours this Christmas.
CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
Lloyd, Audrey, Mary Beth,
Linda-Kay and Jomo
I am the Christmas Spirit!
I enter the home of poverty, causing pale faced children to open their eyes wide in pleased wonder.
I cause the miser's clutched hand to relax, and thus paint a bright spot on his soul.
I cause the aged to renew their youth and to laugh in the old, glad way.
I cause eager feet to climb dark stairways with filled baskets, leaving behind hearts amazed at the
goodness of the world.
I cause the prodigal to pause a moment on his wild, wasteful way, and send to anxious love some little
token that releases glad tears-tears which wash away the hard lives of sorrow.
I enter dark prison cells, reminding scarred manhood of what might have been, and pointing forward to
good days yet to be.
I come softly into the still white home of pain and lips that are too weak to speak just tremble in silent
eloquent gratitude.
In a thousand ways I cause the weary world to look up into the face of God, for a little moment forget the
things that are small and wretched.
I am the Christmas Spirit.
