Installation Instructions

RFS CompactLine & RFS SlimLine Antennas SBX1, SB1, SU1

This Installation Instruction is valid for antennas in the following version : Reflector 0.3 m (1 ft) Dual polarized SBX Single polarisation SB, SU (standard installation in the plant : vertical polarisation) Mounting pipe support - Standard : 89 114mm - Option : 48 89mm Antenna offset to the left or to the right Standard installation on 115 mm pipe with offset to the left Safety collar for easy installation and Azimuth fine adjustment of 5 1 spindle for fine adjustment of Elevation of 25 Reflector with shroud, shroud aperture covered by a radome

It is important to mount the antenna exactly as described in this installation instruction. The installed antenna shall be inspected once per year by qualified personnel. RFS disclaims any responsibility for the result of improper or unsafe installation. This installation instruction has been written for qualified, skilled personnel. Assembly of the mount


For easy operation of the screwed joints, Anti seize Installation Paste has to be applied to all the threads of screxs and fine adjusment spindles. After this, kleep the lubricated threads free of dust and dirt ! Fastener torque specification see table attached.

Antenna offset
Offset left (Standard)
- Insert drain plug in hole on the top of the reflector.

Offset right
- Rotate antenna 180 degrees - Rotate radome 180 degrees - Insert drain plug in hole on the top of the reflector. drain plug

screws M3

unscrew the 2 screws M3 at the refined steel ring hold the feed tightly at the wave guide rotate carefully the feed 90 degrees mount the feed to the refined steel ring and lock the 2 screws M3.

The feed is a precision component which should be handled with special care during installation. For instance, always carry the feed supporting both ends. Any damage may degrade the antennas performance. Repair of feeds is not possible in the field.

Loosen hex screws Loosen nuts and adjust elevation

Azimuth adjustment

Loosen nut

Loosen nuts of the U-bolt

Loosen nuts and adjust azimuth

Important : After azimuth adjustment, lock the first nut on the U-bolt with a torque of 20 Nm, then the second lock nut is fixed against the first one. Do not use two wrenches to fix the second nut.

Polarization adjustment
Loosen hex screws and adjust polarization by rotation of the casting plate

Final Check

When the installation of the antenna has been completed, it is necessary to make sure that the installation instruction has been followed in all aspects. It is especially important to check that all screwed joints are tightly locked.
