CONSENT TO PUBLISH FORM EDITED BOOK

An agreement made this Thursday, 19 September 2013 by and between Ahmed Mansour Calligraphy Center, Bibliotheca Alexandrina P.O. Box 138 Chatby 21526, Alexandria, Egypt hereinafter referred to as the Contributor (if more than one author, the Contributor shall be read as the Contributors), and Koninklijke Brill NV, P.O. Box 9000, 2300 PA Leiden, The Netherlands, hereinafter referred to as the Publisher (Koninklijke Brill NV. incorporates the imprints IDC, Brill Academic Publishers, Martinus Nijhoff Publishers, VSP and Global Oriental) WHEREAS A. the Publisher is a publisher of academic works; B. the Publisher wishes to publish an edited work under the editorship of Geoffrey Roper, (hereinafter referred to as the Editor), and provisionally entitled: Historical Aspects of Printing and Publishing in Languages of the Middle East (hereinafter referred to as the Work); C. the Contributor wishes to contribute to the above-mentioned Work an article provisionally entitled: Bulaq Press Museum at Bibliotheca Alexandrina as directed by the Editor; WHEREBY in consideration of the mutual covenants and obligations herein contained, the Parties hereto agree as follows: 1. The Contributor agrees to contribute to the Work by providing the article or articles assigned to him/her, with a critical apparatus and a bibliography pertaining to each entry (hereinafter: the Contribution). 2. The Contributor agrees to contribute to the Work by providing a list of index terms to the Editors for his/her Contribution. 3. The Contributor agrees to adhere to the editorial process as designed by the Editors and Publisher. 4. The Contributor agrees to follow the Publishers instructions regarding length, style, format and form of delivery. 5. The Contributor hereby assigns to the Publisher the full copyright of his/her Contribution, which assignment the Publisher hereby accepts. Consequently, the Publisher shall have the exclusive right throughout the world to publish and sell the Contribution in all languages, in whole or in part, including, without limitation, any abridgement and substantial part thereof, in book form and in any other form including, without limitation, mechanical, digital, electronic and visual reproduction, electronic storage and retrieval systems, including internet and intranet delivery and all other forms of electronic publication now known or hereinafter invented.

6. The Publisher confirms that the following rights are reserved to the Contributor: a. the right after publication to include the Contribution free of charge in a compilation of own works in print, such as a collection of own articles and/or lectures, on condition that due acknowledgment is made of the original publication; b. the right after publication to quote the Contribution and/or build on the content of the Contribution, on condition that due acknowledgment is made of the original publication; c. the right to reproduce the Contribution in a limited number of copies for the sole purpose of private practice; d. the right to include the Contribution in a collection by way of a support to lectures and presentations given by the Contributor, on condition that the normal exploitation of the Work by the Publisher is not harmed and that due acknowledgment is made to the original publication; e. the right to make announcements of the Work public in relevant circles; f. all the intellectual and industrial property rights or any similar rights with respect to (the protection of) methods, processes, designs and models described in the Contribution. g. The right to post the post-print version of the Contribution on his/her own personal website free of charge. This means the Contribution may be shown exactly as it appears in print. h. The right to allow the institute employing the Contributor to post the post-refereed, but pre-print version of the Contribution free of charge on its website. The postrefereed, pre-print version means the version which contains all adaptations made after peer reviewing. The Publishers lay-out must not be used. 7. The Contributor warrants and represents that he/she is the sole author and owner of the Contribution, that it has never been published elsewhere in its present form, that it does not infringe upon any copyright or any other right(s), that it does not contain infringing or other unlawful material, that he/she is the exclusive owner of the rights assigned to the Publisher and that he/she has obtained in writing the customary permission from the copyright owner(s) or his (their) legal representative(s) or heir(s) whenever a passage is quoted and/or a table or illustration from copyright material is used. 8. The Contributor declares that any person named as co-author of the Contribution is aware of the fact and has agreed to being so named. 9. The Contribution shall be delivered to the Publisher free of copyright charges. 10. The Contributor shall indemnify the Publisher for, and hold the Publisher harmless from, any loss, expense or damage occasioned by any claim or suit by a third party for copyright infringement or arising out of any breach of the foregoing warranties as a result of publication of the Work. 11. In the event of a new edition of the Work, or any other revision made after publication of the Work, the Publisher shall use reasonable endeavours to involve the Contributor in such revision. In case such involvement is not reasonably feasible, the Publisher shall have the right to arrange for revision by a third party. 12. The present agreement constitutes the complete and final agreement between the Parties listed above with regard to the Work, and replaces any other agreement regarding the Work that may have been signed before.

13. All disputes that may arise in connection with this present agreement or the breach thereof shall be adjudicated exclusively by the applicable Court in The Hague. The parties declare that the laws and orders of the Kingdom of the Netherlands are exclusively applicable to this agreement and to the legal relationship between the parties resulting from it. 14. This agreement shall bind and inure to the benefit of the Parties and to the executors, administrators, heirs, and assignees of the Contributor, and the successors and assignees of the Publisher.
