PLAINS ART MUSEUM www.plainsart.org Plains Art Museum is proud to present the first major showing of acclaimed surrealist and Fargo-Moorhead native T. L. Soliens new body of work, inspired by both literary sources and historical epochs. Solien has created a powerful body of work inspired by Herman Melvilles 1851 novel, Moby-Dick and Sena Jeter Naslunds 1999 bestseller, Ahabs Wife. While numerous American artists have interpreted Melvilles novel, Solien is the first and only to also embrace its contemporary sequel in Ahabs Wife. By imagining Ahabs widow leaving the East Coast for a North Dakota homestead, Solien simultaneously explores the ambitions and incentives that drive his own artistic creativity. Organized by Plains Art Museum and accompanied by a major catalogue, this is the first full exhibition of Soliens work developed over the past 10 years.
