DX200 Clear Code List

Introduction

1 Introduction
The DX 200 Clear Code List contains descriptions of all clear codes sent from the call control program blocks to the statistical process. This manual also describes the use of the clear codes in the DX 200 system. Clear codes have been given hexadecimal numbers from 0000H to 0FFFH. Clear codes have been divided into four main classes: 0000H - 03FFH: normal clearing 0400H - 07FFH: internal congestion 0800H - 0BFFH: external congestion 0C00H - 0FFFH: subscriber errors

The main class 'normal clearing' consists of clear codes which have not been caused by error in the network element or by subscriber error, but which nevertheless lead to clearing of a call or to an interruption in call set-up. The class has been further divided into four subclasses 0000H - 00FFH: normal clearing / normal clearing: normal clearing situations, for example, subscriber busy 0100H - 01FFH: normal clearing / internal congestion: clear codes set by charging and statistics and not leading to a release 0200H - 02FFH: normal clearing / external congestion: normal clearing situations, caused by a congestion outside the network element, for example, by a congestion on the radio path 0300H - 03FFH: normal clearing / subscriber error: normal congestion caused by the subscriber's facility or equipment.

. The second main class, 'internal congestion' (0400H - 07FFH) consists of cases in which a call or call set-up is interrupted because of an error in the originating exchange. Primarily, the class contains clear codes associated with communication between the various units and program blocks of the exchange and those associated with handling of files. The third main class, 'external congestion' (0800H -0BFFH) includes all the cases in which a call or call set-up is interrupted because of an error outside the originating exchange. This group consists mainly of clear codes related to inter-exchange signalling. The fourth main class, 'subscriber errors' (0C00H - 0FFFH) includes the cases in which a call or call set-up is interrupted by a calling subscriber's error or by a failure in the subscriber's equipment or by faulty subscriber signalling. The clear codes are transferred from the call control to the statistical system in the following messages: charging facility charging (facility control) call set-up interrupted call interrupted

The clear codes affect both the tasks and outputs of the following system blocks and program blocks: Call Control (CLCSYB)

Use of clear codes

2 Use of clear codes

The individual clear codes or clear code groups are utilized in the following functions of the DX 200 system: traffic observation traffic measurement traffic maintenance supervision detailed charging field reporting load observation

A more detailed description of these functions follows.

2.1

Traffic observation
Traffic observation uses individual clear codes. In two observation categories, that is, in destination observation and in the observation of failed calls, the observation can be limited to a certain clear code, for example, 0804H, or to a certain clear code range, for example, 0400H - 07FFH. This means that traffic observation reports are given only on calls that fall into the defined category. In other observation categories, clear codes have no function.

2.2

Traffic measurement
Traffic measurement uses the main classes of clear codes.

2.3

Maintenance supervision
Supervision of the error ratio of circuit groups and control units is part of the maintenance supervision. Here, it is important to distinguish between 'normal clearing' and 'clearing due to error', irrespective of the cause of error.

2.4

Detailed charging
Individual clear codes received in the charging messages and facility charging messages are significant for detailed charging.

2.5

Field reporting
Individual clear codes and the classification of clear codes in the Service Level File of the statistics system are used in field reporting. The Service Level File can be defined to include eight code groups, which may comprise any clear codes (0000H - 0FFFH). The number of occurrences of the clear codes belonging to these groups are updated, group by group, to the Service Level File. The occurrences of each clear code are also registered in the Service Level File.

3 Presentation of clear codes

Clear codes have been described in numerical order. The description is given in the following form. Number Name Description Detected by The hexadecimal number of the clear code (0000H -0FFFH). The name of the clear code. The name of the clear code in the MML programs. A description of the clear code. The name of the program block that detects the clear code. Description of the situation which causes the clear code to be set. A description of the effects that the clear code has on

Text in MML printouts

Default effect on the exchange the exchange

Possibility to change the default effect This field states whether it is possible to change the default effect. Alarms A list of possible alarms which are set when the clear code occurs in the exchange.

Effective and ineffective cause codes

4 Effective and ineffective cause codes

The operator can use clear codes when generating charging. In the list below, effective clear codes are those codes that can be generated when a call reaches conversation state. Ineffective clear codes indicate that the call did not reach conversation state. However, ineffective clear codes are important statistically. Detected by
Program block RMAPRB Explanation RMAPRB sets the clear code when SWICOP returns the error code indicating that traffic type congestion has occurred in message congestion_on_route_s (4132). This occurs when selective circuit reservation or automatic congestion control rejection percentages cause the outgoing circuit reservation to fail. In both features the rejection percentages and continuation instructions for different traffic types (direct routed calls and alternatively directed calls) are defined. In selective circuit reservation the rejection percentages are applied after the user-defined threshold values have been reached. In automatic congestion control the rejection percentages are applied when the congestion level information has been received from the signalling point of the exchange to which the call is being routed.

Default effect on the exchange Possibility to change the default effect Not possible. Alarms No alarms.

This clear code is used also when a call has been cleared because the maximum amount of satellites per one call has exceeded. Releasing a call due to these causes is usually a desired consequence. This can be modified with the commands of the command groups RD, RK and RM. This clear
