PG 401 STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

COURSE OBJECTIVE Strategic Management is examined in terms of contents, process and context. The course covers issues of internal and external environment analysis and associates them with the notion of competitive advantage. Strategy is defined at three levels: corporate, business and functional. Nonetheless, it is thoroughly discussed at the business and functional level only. The roles and responsibilities of managers involved in the decision making process are also highlighted. LEARNING OUTCOMES Upon completion of this course, students are expected to be able to:
1. Develop a broad understanding of strategic management concepts and theories and their importance and application to organization and industry. 2. Evaluate business environments, conduct case analysis and acquired strategic decision-making skills. 3. Differentiate the functional levels, the roles and responsibilities of the key managers involved in the decision-making process.
