Location & Area

There are sixteen Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Matara District, Southern Province. The Kotapola Divisional Secretariat Division is a one of them. It was bounded on the the North by Kolonna DSD in Rathnapura District , on the south by Pitabeddara DSD in Matara District , on the East by Pasgoda DSD in Mathara District , on the west by Neluwa DSD in Galle District. The total area of Kotapola DSD is about 175.5 sq.km. The total Population is about 71715.

It can be mentioned Kotapola DSD is related to wet Zone evergreen forest zone. It Includes the part of world heritage sinharaja forest & part of Diyadawa Reserved forest. There is high bio diversity in that area.
