PRESS RELEASE | NEW YORK | SEPTEMBER 2013 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Online-Only Sales
OF POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART
New York - Christies is pleased to announce a series of online -only curated and themed sales of Post-War and Contemporary art. These online sales are the perfect channel for selling art internationally; the timed online format allows clients to browse, bid, receive instant updates by email or phone if another bid exceeds theirs, organize shipping, and give payment from anywhere in the world. In our flat world, buying art online is a natural evolution of the global marketplace. In order to continue developing our eCommerce platform and build the quality of our existing auctions, the Post-War and Contemporary Art department in New York is introducing a new series of online sales curated according to themes or dedicated to specific artists. These sales will be a hybrid with a printed catalogue and a public viewing coinciding with the November sale season. We will bring together a wide range of carefully selected artwork, at price points that will attract new and existing collectors. Consignors and buyers will enjoy the same rigorous standard of production associated with live sales-only the means of purchase will change. The sales will also provide consignors with global visibility for their works, as well as appeal to new collectors who havent traditionally participated in our live auctions, declared Andy Massad, Senior Specialist and Sponsor of the Post-War and Contemporary Art Online-Only Sales. Focused around various themes as well as more general offerings, these new sales will ensure high visibility among collectors and will also be closely aligned to the Christies Young Collectors initiative, which will launch later this year.
