In regards to the original topic of this thread, I just want to say that Allah does not need BM or other

than him. By condemning himself to an eternity in the fires of Hell (provided he never repents), he has harmed only himself. I do not feel that I have lost anything. Rather, I feel that he has lost something. There were people who saw, heard, interacted with, prayed behind even wrote down the Quran for - the Messenger of Allah who ended up becoming apostates. So, someone as insignificant as BM leaving or staying in Islam doesnt harm or help us in any way. Hes just the latest example of an ancient trend. As for the reasons behind his leaving Islam, this is too complicated and private to discuss here, but let me say this: it was the inevitable outcome of practicing a dry Islam that consists of reading mostly news all day, following only controversial topics and debates, and having little time for worship and purification of his heart. Go back and look at his posts, and youll see that Im right. When we look at people who we assume to be 'good brothers,' we often misinterpret revolutionary spirit to be sincere enthusiasm for the religion, while it's possible that for that person, Islam is just the flavor of the month. The biggest sign of this is when you notice the person rarely focusing on heart-softeners in his reading or speech, never performing optional acts of worship, and not trying to grasp Islam as a whole. Rather, they only pick up on the controversies and entertaining issues because they entered Islam in the first place mainly out of a desire to be part of something against the grain, something that stands out, as opposed as to a sincere desire to submit to Allah. Once the flavor of the gum fades, you want a new piece. This was 99% of the reason that he couldn't stay on board in the end, and I fear for some who I see displaying the same symptoms. Save yourself before it is too late. Stop looking for entertainment and controversy in this religion, and instead look for knowledge of Allah and your relationship with Him. It might sound boring to some, but this is all that will save you in the end. Unglue your eyes from controversial forum topics and instead make a small pile of books for yourself to glance in everyday: the Qur'an, 'Riyad as-Salihin' by an-Nawawi, 'al-Adab al-Mufrad' by al-Bukhari, az-Zuhd by Ahmad these books were written for a reason. Keep it simple but constant. This way, you are slowly building a fortress in your heart that will not be penetrated once the army of fitnah strikes...and it will certainly strike sooner or later. The Prophet ( ) said something that couldn't have fit better here: "Race towards good actions before trials befall you that will be like pieces of dark night, in which a man will wake up as a believer and go to sleep as a disbeliever, and a man will go to sleep as a believer and wake up as a disbeliever." I can go on and on about the times we are living in being tough, holding on to burning coals, etc., but you already know all of that. The problem is we dont want to take the boring, difficult, and slow route to insure our faith during these times, the route of taking the means to clean and strengthen your heart to prepare it for the test Allah has in store for it. This is a religion of men, it is a religion of struggle, it is a religion of perseverance, it is a religion of patience, and it is a religion of testing. You will be tested, and a real man is one who is loyal to someone/something in good times and in bad. Fake men cave in under pressure as soon as things appear to be sour. Another thing is that some of us have a form of hidden arrogance in our hearts even if we dont know it. We rely on ourselves for firmness and think that we have gotten where we are in faith, knowledge, etc. because of our own efforts. I have seen this with countless brothers who I never imagined would leave Islam or leave the Sunnah, but they did, and this was a major reason. The reality is that Allah happened to grant you a bit of this faith, end of story. But when you rely on yourself and secretly

thank yourself for this, Allah will leave you to...yourself. When you rely on Allah for your firmness and thank Him for it, He will remain with you until the end. This is why the Prophets most constant supplication was to ask Allah to keep his heart firm it was a realization that you are literally at the mercy of Allah when it comes to your faith. I can guarant ee that BM and others like him didnt make this supplication with humility, sincerity, or frequency, and this is where they ended up as a result of such hidden arrogance. At the end of the day, for every apostate who left Islam, a thousand new Muslims enter it. The same exact day that BM was confirmed to have left Islam, I sat in the audience at the masjid and witnessed a 55-yr old Hispanic man professing his belief in Allah and His Messenger. Once again, its BMs loss, not ours. Our job is to build that fortress around our hearts starting from now. This is the only way to survive these rough times. - Abu Sabaya on the apostation of an indivdual
