Box 44321 Mussafah Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates 15 June 2012

Dear Mr Getchell, This letter outlines the processes involved for IB candidate schools. An essential element during this stage is an effective working relationship between the assigned consultant, the school and the IB regional office. We are glad to inform you that a consultant has been assigned to your school for 2012. The contact details are provided below:
Name of the consultant Email address

Marc Abrioux mabrioux@gmail.com

Purpose of the consultation process The purpose of the consultation process is to support the school through the candidate phase, as the school works towards authorization. During the consultation process the school will receive 40 hours of remote consultation. In addition, there will be one consultation visit of two days duration arranged during a schools candidacy. The dates for the visit will be agreed upon by the school and the consultant. Responsibilities of the school The consultant will write to your schools IB coordinator to officially start the consultation process. We strongly recommend that the mails identified as spam are checked because the consultants mail may be identified as such in some networks. If the school has not been contacted by the consultant within three weeks upon receipt of this letter, please send an email to ibaem.schoolservices@ibo.org. The IB document Consultation process: Guidelines for consultants offers further information about the process, including factors to consider in deciding when the consultation visit will take place. The Head of the school and the IB coordinator are to read this document before the consultation process starts. The document can be found in IB Docs Librarythe website devoted to the IB authorization and evaluation processes. Toward the end of consultancy the school will be contacted by the regional office and asked for feedback with respect to the status of support from the consultant. The school should look upon the consultancy process as an integral part of candidacy. Therefore, the school must ensure that open communications are sustained to gain the full benefit.

Use of the Online Curriculum Centre (OCC) The consultant will support and give advice based on information provided in the current IB publications and his/her professional knowledge of the programme. The IB documentation will always be used as a reference in order to allow the school to consider the best way to prepare for authorization and to successfully implement the IB programme. It is important for the IB coordinator to ensure that all teachers have access to the Online Curriculum Centrethe IBs secure website for teachers and administrators, where they can obtain electronic versions of IB publications and teaching materials, as well as participate in online forums on programme-related topics with IB practitioners worldwide. If the school has not received an email from the OCC team yet, please contact them at occ@ibo.org. Professional development The IB website (http://www.ibo.org) publishes a calendar of IB professional development activities available across the IB world. This information will be extremely useful when planning the school professional development schedule in order to comply with the IB requirements at the time of authorization. Should you have any questions related to professional development, please do not hesitate to contact the Head of Professional Development AEM, Mr Jonathan Renaudon-Smith, at jonathan.renaudon-smith@ibo.org. Reports The school will have access to a report after the consultation visit and to an update on the consultation process at the end of it. The reports will be made available to the school through IB Docs. When the reports are available, you will receive further information on how to access them.

Should you have any programme-related questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Diploma Programme School Services Manager AEM, Ms Fidelis Nthenge, at fidelis.nthenge@ibo.org. We trust that the consultation process will be useful, effective and supportive for the school in its efforts to become authorized to offer the Diploma Programme.

Yours sincerely,

Richard Henry Head of School Services International Baccalaureate - Africa, Europe, Middle East
