(4rd grade students)/ Beginners Class: VIII B Subject of the lesson: Storytime - Little Red Riding Hood, by Brothers Grimm Type of lesson: Lessons of systematization and revision of knowledge/ Revision Lesson Skills: speaking, reading, listening and writing. Teaching aims: - communicative aims: - Understanding words in context; - Increasing awareness about the sound-letters; - Increasing awareness about the way we learn vocabulary. Learning aims: By the end of the lesson students will have: - Become aware of the way we spell words; - Internalized the vocabulary; - Gather information and the use it in order to answer questions; - Personalized English through acting. Aids: textbooks, copybooks, blackboards, poster, worksheets. Organizing types: class work, group work, individual work; PROCEDURE Activity 1 Interaction: T Ss; _____________________Timing: 10 WARM-UP Breaking the ice: Teacher greets the students, asks them about their moods and their families. As they have learnt the members of a family, the teacher asks them about the names of their parents, brothers and grandparents. Students are asked to recite a single stanza of the Family poem: We laugh and cry, We work and play, We help each other Every day. The world's a lovely Place to be Because we are A family. Activity 2 Interaction: T - Ss; Ss -T; _________________ Timing: 10 SPECIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM TO BE DEALT WITH Class Discussion Questions: As the poem says, in a family, members help each other; especially when some family members live in separate homes and are in need. Does someone know the story of "The Little Red Riding Hood"? What are the major events of the story? Lets create a list of 6 to 10 major events, such as Little Red meeting the Wolf, the Wolf at Grandmas House, and Little Red seeing the Wolf disguised. Who is the main character of the story? What does she do that she isnt supposed to do? What happens because of her actions? What does she learn from her experience in the story?

Initial practice: The teacher puts a poster with the story of "The Little Red Riding Hood" on the blackboard. Then the teacher asks them to say what they see in every eight pictures of the poster, setting - in fact - the major events of the story and underlining the new words encountered in it: basket, hood, wood, woodcutter, cottage. Students will identify relevant supporting details and arrange events in chronological order. Activity 3 Interaction: T - Ss; G- G __________________Timing: 15 REPETITION OR SYSTEMATIZATION PROPER Secondary practice: The teacher asks the students to listen to the tape which describes the story of "The Little Red Riding Hood". Then, the students, helped by the teacher have to translate the lesson and solve few exercises with multiple choices, true/false questions on their worksheets. The teacher places students in small groups; each member of the group chooses a character from the story and the corresponding prop. Students will perform their parts as the teacher guides them to retell the story. The teacher allows each group to participate. Activity 4 Interaction: T - Ss; Ss - T; ______________ __ Timing: 10 EVALUATION - initial: through "warm-up activity"; - continue: through analysis of answers, activities, observation, stimulation, error correction; - final: through oral feedback, written tasks. Oral evaluation: Students try to retell the story briefly helped by teacher: Lets discuss what happened in the beginning, in the middle and in the end of the story; characters, setting, problem, and solution. Are these events believable? What parts of the story can be realistic and what not? What should you do if a stranger approaches you? Written evaluation: Lets play a game! What are the gifts that Little Red Riding Hood takes to Grandma in the story? The teacher brainstorms other things they might take to Grandma and record their answers of a chart paper. Each student receives a basket with the task of writing sentences about what they would take to Grandma describing the things.
