Background
1. In March 2010, a presentation was made by NESPAK to Honorable Chief Minister Punjab with recommendations:

Construct 6-lane flyover along Ferozepur road (Cost = 2300 Million Rs.) 6-lane underpass along Main Boulevard (Cost = 950 Million Rs.) In addition to above, four grade separations Costing Rs. 1,800 Millions were also recommended to be taken up in phases at following locations:

6 Lane Split Flyover along Ferozepur Road Rs. 2.3 Billion Signal Cycle Time reduces to 120 sec from 200 sec (40% reduction).

6 Lane Underpass along Main Boulevard - Rs. 1.7 Billion Signal Cycle Time reduces to 90 sec (55% reduction). Centre Point underpass to be taken up simultaneously.

Work schedule from contractor M/S NLC Establishment of site office Traffic Diversion implemented. Design of flyover completed by M/S NESPAK. Site cordoned off with corrugated sheets.

Pile load test completed.


Petrol pumps have been removed (5 Nos). Series of coordination meetings with Traffic Police & District administratrion

EFFORTS FOR RELOCATION

Series of coordination meetings with all concerned agencies convened and time schedules have been finalized to relocate the services

Payment for Relocation of utilities made to respective departments.

Fast track execution by better engineering management techniques through hour to hour monitoring. Proper coordination among the departments. Project will recoup its original cost within 18 months due to operational cost of vehicles & fuel saving as per economic analysis.
