The Heritage PTO Presents the Hoofin It With Heritage Walk-a-thon

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2013 -- Rain Date: FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2013 What is the Hoofin It With Heritage Walk-a-thon?
A school wide event in which all students and staff participate. Participants will get pledges, run or walk laps and finally, collect money for our PTO. Participants will have the opportunity to earn a number of prizes and awards based on their participation and sponsorship levels.

What are the goals of the Walk-a-thon?


To include the entire Heritage Elementary community in a fitness awareness event. To make this the only MAJOR PTO FUNDRAISER of the year. Raise the funds needed to maintain and support PTO programming such as assemblies, free school social events, field trips, Fifth Grade Farewell, etc.

What do the children do for the Walk-a-thon?


Have a TON OF FUN walking AND dancing! Use their pledge form to collect money for their school. Run/walk the high school track for 10 to 15 minutes on the day of the walk-a-thon. All students participate whether or not they have any pledges.

What do the children get from the Walk-a-thon?


Understanding of the importance of exercise. Appreciation of teamwork and school unity within Heritage Elementary. Every student receives a participation prize and snack on the day of the walk-a-thon. Every student has a chance to win awesome prizes. A hand in helping the entire school raise money for school assemblies, field trips, school parties, and other extras throughout the year.

What about pledges?


Sponsors will pledge a flat donation. Pledge sheets and prizes lists will be sent home on September 27, 2013. Please do not allow your children to go door-to-door alone to solicit pledges. Accumulated pledges of $50.00 per student will achieve our goal. This is the amount the Heritage PTO spends on each child each year. If your family prefers not to solicit pledges for this fundraiser, please consider making a donation. The pledge form needs to be returned to your childs teacher by OCTOBER 8, 2013.

What happens after the event?


Students collect their pledges. Make checks payable to Heritage PTO. Receipts will be given for any donations over $249. Your cleared check will serve as your receipt for lesser amounts. All pledge money should be turned in by Friday, October 18, 2013, in order to be eligible for prizes.
