Poem My Furry Tabby I have a little cat, A member of my family, A cute little cat, So white and furry! I feed it fish and milk, And bathe it once a week, It sleeps in a basket, And sometimes cuddles up with me! Tabby likes to jump and run, Or sometimes climb a tree, I love my little cat, And she is a member of my family.

Justification for choosing the poem English language is one of the subjects that need to be learnt by all of the pupils in Malaysia. In order to teach English, there are skills that need to considered. Language Arts is one of the new skills that a teacher need to teach to the level 1 pupils which has stated in the Malaysias syllabus. It is the new skills that need to be taught in KSSR syllabus. Poetry is one of the Language Art content. Poetry is the most emotionally charged means of written expression and it consists of words arranged in patterns of sound and imagery to spark an emotional, and intellectual, response from us. Poetry is the language of the imagination, of feelings, of emotional self-expression, of high art. In order to teach Language Arts to my pupils, I have chosen one poem. This poem is about animals and clothes. I choose this poem because the usage of the language is suitable to my average level ability of pupils. The level of the language used is not too hard. They have learnt some of the words in the poem in their previous year, such as shirt. The content of the poem is quite hilarious, such as a cow goes to town in a gown. It can attract the pupils attention to think and imagine how can a cow wears a gown, what will it look like in the real life. They will have fun while learning. That is one of the purposes of Language Arts. Besides laughing, they will learn what is poem and how it looks like. Animals are something that will attract the pupils attention. Almost all of the children love animals. That is why I choose this poem. It is based on the pupils interest toward animals. It can make the pupils more attract to the lesson. If a lesson is based on the pupils interest, they will pay their attention better. This poem is not suitable for the higher ability pupils. The language is quite easy. They can easily understand the poem. They will find the lesson for that day is boring. In order to choose or use any material, there are many things that need to be considered. We cannot pick the materials easily. The materials and activity should be suitable with the pupils. As to conclude here, different level of pupils ability, we must use different materials and activity in order to make the pupils understand and take part in the lesson for the day.
