Dear Matlab community, The 2009 Matlab site license has been nalized.

This year the license includes the Symbolic Math Toolbox as well as SymBiology Toolbox. These are effective with the 2008b release. If you are a system administrator, you should have received an email yesterday. If you did not, please email me and I'll send you instructions for installing on a server. If you use a PowerPC, please note that Mathworks discontinued support for that platform with the 2008a release. I have requested 2007b codes that will last until Dec 1, 2009 (same expiration as our site license), but have not received them yet. Please email me if you use a PowerPC and I'll send you instructions when I get the codes. For those who are familiar with the process of downloading, installing, and activating, here is the relevant information: License: 361635 Release: 2008b Activation Key: 03529-67108-00587-96752-37727 File Installation Key: 64447-03840-40147-40821-17530-14551-64035-11702-16495-35112-64790-47588 Here are complete instructions for those who need them: R2008b is here and along with is MathWorks new Activation System. Here's what you need to know: 1) If you are an end user installing it on one or more of your own machines (not a server); read below for instructions. 2) If you are a system administrator and need to install Matlab on one or more servers, email me. I need to congure the system with your information (name, email address, department, title, campus box, phone number, and fax number) and then I'll send you separate instructions on activation. For those who fall in category 1 above: In order to activate the license, the License End User must: -Have a MathWorks account (name = email address) and the email address must end in the domain @colorado.edu -The account must be set for the purpose of "Academic Use" -Please enter your department even though it is not a required eld During the installation, the user is prompt to create a MathWorks account and specify the purpose. At some point during the installation, the License End User will need to associate to the license. If the user has the installation software and they are performing an installation with Internet access, they can perform the association through the installer. The Installer will prompt the user to take all the necessary steps. Otherwise, the user will need to go to the MathWorks website and associate an account to the license. You now have permission to download your MathWorks products for License 361635 directly from the MathWorks Web site. To get started, simply follow the two steps below. Stay current with the latest product versions by updating at your convenience. You can also download trial versions of other MathWorks products. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Here are the steps: PART ONE: CREATING AN ACCOUNT You must have a MathWorks Account and associate yourself with a license to download products. 1. Create an account at www.mathworks.com/accesslogin/createProle.do?s_cid=aml_aucreatemwa Beyond the basic required elds (marked with a *), these additional elds are required to associate yourself with a license: - Salutation - Company - Address 1 - City

 - State - Zip Code - Phone area code and number 2. Within your MathWorks Account, click "Associate me with a license" under the My Licenses section. 3. Enter license number 361635 In most cases you will be associated with the license immediately. Occasionally, a manual verication is required, and can take three business days to complete. PART TWO: DOWNLOADING PRODUCTS You must have a MathWorks Account and be associated with a license. (Learn more at www.mathworks.com/ accesslogin?s_cid=aml_augetmwa) After logging in: 1. Visit the downloads area at www.mathworks.com/web_downloads/?s_cid=aml_audn 2. Click "Download products and updates you are licensed to use." 3. Select your platform and products and start downloading. PART THREE: INSTALL AND ACTIVATE To install the products you download, you will need a personal license password and/or license le.
