II. Hear This Word of the Lord
A. We should listen to God’s Word
1. It is where we grow our faith from – Romans 10:17
2. Power of God to salvation – Romans 1:16
3. Read Deut. 6:1-9
B. God’s Word is simple to Understand
1. Ex.19:5-6 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant,
you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is
mine;(6)and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are
the words that you shall speak to the people of Israel."
2. Read Deut. 28:9-15;20-22,25-26,32,36-37 - Did God stutter?;Read 3:2-6
C. Hear THIS word
1. God’s Patience had ended.
2. 1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a
people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of
him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
3. Matt. 7:24-27; Mat 7:24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine
and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
III.The LORD Reveals Secrets
A. The Lord Reveals His Secrets that Man needs to know
1. Amos 3:7; Adam, Cain, Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Apostles
B. God Reveals His Secrets Through the Prophets
1. Secrets – Mystery – things kept hidden until the proper time to reveal.
 2. Gen3:15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring
and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.
3. Rom 5:13-14 ESV for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but
sin is not counted where there is no law. (14) Yet death reigned from Adam to
Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam,
who was a type of the one who was to come.
4. Gal 3:19 ESV Why then the law? It was added because of transgressions, until
the offspring should come to whom the promise had been made, and it was put in
place through angels by an intermediary.
C. The Gospel has been revealed once and for all
1. Read Galatians 3:24-29
2. Rom 16:25-26 Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel
and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery
that was kept secret for long ages (26) but has now been disclosed and
through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to
the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith--
IV. Punishment
A. The Lion has Roared
1. God warned Israel – He had spoken
2. Deut. 17, 1 Samuel 8, 1 Kings 11
3. Israel refused to obey
B. They do not know how to do Right
1. God had revealed His covenant to them
2. Overtime you can forget what is right
3. 1Ti 4:1-2 ESV Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will
depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings
of demons, (2) through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared,
C. Punishment is not pretty
1. Disciplining your children
2. A lamb has been ravaged by a Lion;Judgment will not be pretty
3. Mat.7:13,14–enter by narrow gate difficult & few–wide many- destruction
4. 2Co 5:10-11 ESV For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so
that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body,
whether good or evil. (11) Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we
