Benefits of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ

(by Bill Stevenson)

“A student approached me [Werner Gitt, a German physicist Christian seminar speaker) after a
presentation in the city of Mainz, Germany. I noticed her determination to get an answers she said,
‘You’ve just been talking about time and life after death. But what is eternity exactly?’ I was surprised to
be asked this question by such an attractive young woman. She was so full of life, why didn’t she just
postpone the question as many other people do? I said to her, ‘I’m interested to know why this question is
so important to you.’ She replied, ‘I was recently diagnosed as having a hereditary heart condition. As it
stands, the doctors have given me just a few more years to live. So you see, I have to know what eternity
is.’”

Following are the most important things about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and Heaven:
1. True children of God will get new transformed bodies which will be perfect with no weaknesses.
The Apostle Paul wrote to true Christians in 1 Corinthians 15:42-44 & 49-54
“So also is the Resurrection of the dead.
It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.
It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory.
It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.
There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.”
“And as we have borne the image of the Earthy,
we shall also bear the image of the Heavenly.
Now this I say, brethren,
that flesh and blood cannot inherit the Kingdom of God;
neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I show you a mystery:
We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump:
for the trumpet shall sound,
and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption,
and this mortal shall have put on immortality,
then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written,
‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’”
2. True children of God will completely become like Jesus Christ.
1 John 3:1-3
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons [and daughters] of God:
therefore the world knows us not, because it knew Him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be:
but we know that,
when He shall appear, we shall be like Him,
for we shall see Him as He is.
And every individual that hath this hope in him [or her]
purifies himself [or herself] even as He is pure.”
Philippians 3:20
“For our conversation is in Heaven;
from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall change our vile body,
1
that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body,
according to the working
whereby He is able even to subdue all things unto Himself.”
John 20:19
“Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week,
when the doors were shut
where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews,
came Jesus and stood in the midst,
and say unto them, ‘Peace be unto you.’”
3. True children of God will finally have joy forever.
In John 16:22-24, Jesus said to His disciples just before His death,
“And ye now therefore have sorrow:
but I will see you again,
and your heart shall rejoice,
and your joy no one will take from you.
And in that day
you shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name,
He will give it you.
Hitherto have you asked nothing in My name;
ask and you shall receive,
that your joy may be full.”
4. Heaven is far better than anything on Earth.
Jesus Christ tried to describe Heaven to us in some of the parables:
Matthew 13:24-- a man who sowed good seed in his field
Matthew 13:31-- a mustard seed miraculously growing into a tree
Matthew 13:33-- yeast for raising bread dough
Matthew 13:44-- a treasure hidden in a field which was bought by the discoverer
Matthew 13:45-- a merchant seeking goodly pearls
Matthew 13:47-- a net that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind
Matthew 22:2-- a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son.
[There will be the best wedding in history in Heaven--
between Jesus Christ and His Church
(all of the adopted children of God)
5. The following was about the Old Testament believers: “But now they desire a better country, that is,
an Heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a
city.” (Hebrews 11:16)
Revelations 21 & 22 & John 14:1-2 has wonderful details about the New Jerusalem in Heaven.
21:2-- “The holy city, new Jerusalem. prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
21:22-- “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”
22:3-- “And there shall be no more curse….”
21:27-- “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defiles, neither whatsoever works
abomination, or makes a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.”
22:4-- “And they shall see His face; and His name shall be in their foreheads.”
22:14-- Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the Tree of Life, and
may enter in through the gates into the city.”
22:15-- “For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and
whosoever loves and makes a lie.”
21:4-- “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither
sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
22:5-- “And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the
Lord God gives them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
21:6-- “… the fountain of the water of life freely.”
2
22:17-- And the Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come.’ And let him that hears say, ‘Come.’ And let him that
is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him [or her] take the water of life freely.”
21:23-- “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God
did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.”
21:24-- “And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the
Earth do bring their glory and honor into it.”
22:1-- “…. a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of
the Lamb.”
22:2-- “In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the Tree of Life, which
bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the
healing of the nations.”
21:10-- “… that great city, the holy Jerusalem…”
21:11-- “having the glory of God”
21:12-- “and had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and
names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:”
21:13-- “On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west
three gates.”
21:16-- “And the city lies foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the
city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are
equal.” [As eight furlongs make a mile, so the city fifteen hundred miles; “a monstrously large city
indeed! Such an one as never was upon Earth.”]
21:17 “And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the
measure of a man, that is, of the angel.” [“This would be, reckoning the cubit at eighteen inches, two
hundred and sixteen feet. This is less than the height of the walls of Babylon, which Herodotus says
were three hundred and fifty feet high.” (According to the Barnes Commentary)]
21:18-- “And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear
glass.”
21:19-- “And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious
stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an
emerald;”
21:20-- “The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a
topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.”
21:21-- “And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl: and the street
of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.”
21:25-- “And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.”
John 14:1-3 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's
house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I
am, there you may be also.”

Now, if you get to go to the New Jerusalem, what do you think will be still in your mind? Who would you
like to talk with and what would you want to talk about. Remember, there will be no sorrow and no
crying in Heaven. With your perfect body, what physical activities would you like to do? Remember
there is no violence or pain in Heaven.
