Expectations

I have been thinking about this topic for the past week. In the past I have kept my
expectations to a minimum even though many have had high expectations of me (usually way
to high). Also some questions have come to mind. Look at them and my answers as ideal
hopes, which are rare in reality.
1. What should a true Christian expect of his or her pet(s)?
2. What should a true Christian expect of anyone he or she meets?
3. What should a true Christian expect of co-workers?
4. What should a true Christian expect of any relative?
5. What should a true Christian expect of his or her parents?
6. What should a true Christian expect of any politician?
7. What should a true Christian expect of those politicians that represent him or her
(county, city, or state)?
8. What should a true Christian expect of the President of the United States?
9. What should a true Christian expect of anyone in the church he or she attends?
10. What should a true Christian expect of his or her pastor and the church
elders/deacons?
11. What should a true Christian expect of his or her best friends?
12. What should a true Christian expect of his or her spouse?
13. What should a true Christian expect of himself or herself?
14. What should a true Christian expect of the Bible?
15. What should a true Christian expect of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy
Spirit?

My suggested answers:
1. pet(s): respect and appreciation
2. any acquaintance: politeness
3. co-workers: politeness and compassion
4. any relative: politeness and compassion
5. parents: provisions during childhood and compassion
6. any politician: truthfulness
7. those politicians that represent him or her: truthfulness, understanding, compassion,
and promise keeping
8. the President of the United States: truthfulness, understanding, compassion, and
promise keeping
9. anyone in the church he or she attends: politeness and compassion
10. pastor and the church elders/deacons: truthfulness, understanding, compassion, and
promise keeping
11. best friends: truthfulness, understanding, compassion, and promise keeping
12. his or her spouse: unselfish love, truthfulness, understanding, compassion, and promise
keeping
13. himself or herself: to do his or her best in learning, thinking, and doing
14. the Bible: wonderful truths and wisdom mostly for application in his or her personal
life
15. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit: all of the above

The results surprised me. Why do you think they did? What Bible story or verses came to
mind for each answer? If you can’t answer that last question, please re-read the suggested
answers and write what comes to mind below for all to consider. Also, think about what God
the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit expect of you?
