Welcome to the first come-back issue of the JRM Youthlink. We
pray that every edition of this magazine would serve its purpose
in this generation.

Every youth encounters troubles in some points of his/her life.

Some are allowed by our Lord Jesus to cause pruning and a
changing in character for us to become more Christ-like. But
there are those that are self-inflicted through disobedience and
unwillingness to submit to God. The two words are often
interchanged, but they are actually essentially different.
Disobedience deals with not doing the things one is asked to do
while unsubmission defines to one's unwillingness to obey.
John Bevere further explains in his book “Under Cover” that
obedience deals with our responsive actions toward authority
and submission deals with our attitude towards authority. It’s in
the latter where most of us miss it.

Isaiah 1:19 (ESV) says, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall
eat the good of the land (italics mine).” God's promises are
true. However, most want the blessings of God but few want the
requirements of the blessing, as quoted from the pulpit.

I will leave two questions

which, I hope you would
not take as condemning
but rather challenging.
First, are the JRM Youth
obedient to God? And
second, do they
recognize God's
delegated authority?

 “Mission 12.13.08”

LAST DECEMBER 6, 2008, during a meeting in my NSTP class, the class agreed
on having a Christmas party the following Saturday. As the president of
the class, I volunteered to take care of the event. I was thinking of kuya
Kent to facilite a program that would not only entertain the class but
would also highlight Christ and present the true meaning of Christmas. I
contacted Kuya Kent and asked for his help. Well, with no hesitations, he
said “yes”. We brainstormed many times and racked

our brains when alone to come up with a solid “This is
program. And by God's grace, we had. Kuya Kent asked God's activity,
some sponsors to help in funding the raffle and the not ours,”
prizes that he had planned to give during the party.
People gave without hesitation. I want to thank them. I thought.
We spent nights praying and interceding so that the upcoming event
would have a solid foundation. If we will do it without prayer it would be
in vain – the Christmas party will just be another activity of no eternal
value. It would mean nothing to my classmates and to us. “This is God's
activity, not ours”, I thought.

The night before December 13 2008, Ate Tin told Kuya Kent that she
wants to go with us and support us in this “mission.” So, we all agreed to
meet.

December 13, 2008

IT'S FIGHT DAY! The waiting time was kind of exciting and long but fine
(laughs). I, together with Kuya Kent and
Ate Tin, arrived in the university at past 1
o'clock. We were thrilled when we
passed by the guardhouse. The guards
didn't question us or called our attention.
We talked with my professor regarding
the program and we received a 'go’ signal.

After introducing K.K. and Ate Tin to the

class, they took the floor. We played TIN

games like charade-pass-the-message, jumbling the “Christmas Season”
phrase, and “I thank God for your life because . . .” fill in the blanks. We
all had fun during the game. Prizes were given to the winners.

After the games had ended, we

proceeded with our program. Kuya Kent
shared the true meaning of Christmas and
the reason for the season. My classmates
were very attentive and they listened
eagerly to what he was saying. Thank God
for His anointing upon Kuya Kent. He didn't
have mental blocks and shared things from
his heart without hesitation. Afterwards,
we rendered song numbers. Actually he
was supposed to sing just one song but my
classmates requested for another so he
sung again. It was great and meaningful.
Then, after having our 'eating session'
done, we gave the floor to our professor for
her remarks. We closed the party with a
prayer which I led and greeted everyone a "Merry Christmas!" After
which, we said our goodbyes. So that's almost everything that had
happened in the party. We hope that God would use this kind of event to
really establish His kingdom in our universities and workplaces.

All I could say is that

we must never stop
planting seeds, whether it
is a small seed or a big one.
Always remember, seeds
when planted on good soil
(Matthew 13:3-9, 18-23),
would most likely sprout.
And never be discouraged
when seeds aren't
sprouting. Why? Because

Just abide in the vine so that you may have a life that is abundant and
overflowing not just physically, but also spiritually. And may the fire in
your heart, the very life that is in you be so contagious that it would lead
others to draw near to God. God bless you!

THE YOUTH IS the most prophesied yet the most attacked generation of this time. Not only
from the pulpit that pronouncement is made, one could see the truth in those words in
today's society. The media attest to the deterioration of moral values which were once
cherished by the earlier generations. Moral corruption becomes rampant as Christian
values are scoffed at and decadence applauded. These and other misleading
worldviews brought confusion to the youth. What is life? Where do all these things lead
to? Why on earth am I here? What is the purpose of life?

Jasz Lintag, former staff of the Youth Ministry, testifies that an abundant life is one
that is being lived for God's glory. Any other lifestyle leads to emptiness and
meaninglessness. She tells how serving God through the youth ministry could be
something that could be treasured forever.

Jasz shares her life, experiences and lessons with the JRM YouthLink.

YouthLink: How did you come to know to do so by your own strength. Grace is
the Lord? what will sustain you so you will not fall.

JasZ: My conversion testimony is not like

the other testimonies which muse over a
very flawed past/life since I was very
young when I came to know the Lord.
Still, I would say that it was full of God's
amazing grace. I accepted Jesus as my
personal Lord and Saviour when I was only
10 years old. That was on July 6, 1991,
Saturday, at around 3 in the afternoon.
God used a Baptist Sunday School
teacher. Since then I never lose the sense
of God's presence in my life. Every phase
in the journey is a step to knowing Him
more. It was grace amazing because
despite of my human weaknesses and my
heart that is sinful by nature, God
preserved my life so that I could live it not
according to the pattern of this world. I
believe that God's abundant grace is
available not just when you have already
fallen into an “act of sin.” It is an
everyday experience of standing firm on
your convictions despite your limitations

YL: When and why did you join the JRM
Youth Ministry? What made you stay in
the team?
JasZ: I was connected to JRM through the
PUP JRM Campus Ministry. My heart for
lost souls intensified all the more while
serving in the campus. I knew college life
would only happen once and I thanked
the Lord for giving me the chance to grow
there. Then I decided to commit and join
the JRM Youth Ministry. It was during that
time that the new generation of youth
leaders was about to be appointed. The
new JRM Youth Ministry began in 2001
after “More to this Life” Youth Camp. I
became one of the youth staff.
What made me stay and give my
younger years to the youth ministry? I
stayed because I want to give glory to God
by being part of the amazing things He's
doing in this generation.
YL: What are your experiences in the
Youth Ministry? What lessons did you
learn?
JasZ: I'll never forget the Youth Camps,
trips to Bicol and Nueva Viscaya, Youth
Services dances and DNG
Conferences…they're really memorable.
My first task as a Youth Staff was to
spearhead the Convergence nights the
Youth services. It was indeed a difficult
yet fulfilling task. There were many
lessons and disappointments along the
way but they only made your heart trust
in God's sovereignty all the more. It is
very rewarding to see young people
develop a lifestyle of worship. Then I
became the Training and Development
head. It was crucial because discipleship
is the heart of the JRM Youth Ministry. Oh,
how I miss those times in the youth
ministry working hand in hand with co-
youth leaders and seeing emerging
leaders mature in their faith. I am happy
that my strength as a young person was
maximized in serving God (I was part of
ACTS, head of the 1st JRM Youth
newsletter, activity here and there…).
You will only experience those activities
for a season until God asks you to move to
another level. At the end of the day,
what's important is not what you've
accomplished, but what God has
accomplished in transforming your heart.
YL: What were the contributions of the
Youth Ministry in your growth as a
Christian?
JasZ: Cut off the youth ministry

lives we are all enrolled in the school of

got serious with this schooling during the
time I was in the Youth Ministry. For me,
glorifying God means dying to self,

you think they are right, learning to yield
to God's sovereign will, following your
leaders, loving and accepting your co-
workers, leading the younger, and serving
all. When you seek to glorify God above
all, His vindication will be upon you and
you're on to the next level in the school of
brokenness…a life you will never
exchange for anything less, a life that is
worthwhile.
I left the Youth Ministry and joined
the JRM Mission team in 2006. Why? To
give way to the emerging leaders so they
will have their chance of being used by
God in a greater way. But did God move
me out? I guess not. I was appointed as
one of the DG 1st Gen leaders to disciple
the female youth. I kept on arguing with
God to remove me from that post, until I
realized that it was the season God
wanted me to have at that time. The
Youth Ministry never left my prayers since
I was always there to speak in youth
gatherings and attend DNG Conferences.
YL: Where are you now in your journey
of faith? What is God doing now in your
life and what is He teaching you?
JasZ: I am now here in Australia with
nothing but the call of God inside my
heart. I believe that He would bring me
into a new level of service for His name's
sake. Currently, I do not have friends,
immediate family, mentors, pastors, and
disciples beside me to tap my back and
just be there. I only have God and I
believe He is enough. There comes a time
when you have to leave
everything especially your
comfort zone to be able to
conquer everything.
YL: What is your biggest dream/vision
that you want to do for Him?
JasZ: In the deepest part of my heart, I
know God has a big dream for me as He
has for everyone of us. I pray that I will be
very sensitive to the leading of the Holy

Spirit so that whatever God's plan for me
is, it will come to pass. JRM Australia is a
big dream and bigger still is how someday
the church can reach out to build
orphanages and scholarship foundations
to help the poor in the Philippines. Please
give this youth magazine and testimony
to me when you hear that I already forgot
these dreams. Let not the things of this
world ever sway me. Let me always be
reminded of Isaiah 55: 10-13.
YL: Your message to today's youth
leaders.
JasZ: Selfless faith. Think about the
privilege of having your responsibilities
than your rights. Youth Ministry is
something you can never go back to when
you're already old and have other
responsibilities in life. It happens only
once in a lifetime. And if you give your
strength to it without reservation, you
will treasure Youth Ministry forever.
While being a leader, be a servant. Even
Isaiah 55:10-13
10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and
bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:

LAST FEBRUARY 21, 2009, PLM Firebrands

(PLMF) held its campus harvest event at the
Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM)
Gusaling Intramuros AVR1 with the theme “More
Than A Survivor: Persevere. Live. Make a
difference.” The event kicked-off with Kent
Resurreccion as the host. The students from
different courses and year levels broke the ice with
“Moshi-moshi” and “I'm Here because You're
Here” games. After watching the film “The Climb,”
Jeff Lintag shared God's word. The guests were
very receptive. “Why are we here? We are here because
of you”, he tells them. Each one had the chance to
speak up and be led in prayer through the small
groupings. Consolidators also reinforced what had
been said by the speaker about having a relationship
with the Lord Jesus Christ. Every person in the
room witnessed the mighty move of God starting
from the preparations and even more during the
gathering itself. All were blessed and had
experienced joy and gave their utmost praise to God.

Throw off your baggage and fix your eyes on
Jesus. He endured the cross because of the joy that
was set before him. Likewise, you can endure all the
hardships if you can see the joy at the end of the race
which will far outweigh all the adversities you're
experiencing today. Allow the Holy Spirit to work in
the dark side of your life. And through God's help,

pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace. This is
not an instant makeover though. These things
spring forth as you continue to be faithful in your
devotions with God reading and meditating His
Word, worshipping Him in spirit and in truth, being
honest with Him (He already knows anyway),
staying humble before Him and allowing Him to
work in you. A willing, seeking, humble and honest
heart delights God.
I hope that you memorize or do something to
remind yourself of these verses throughout the year
2009 and that you will be able to grow as you
continue to live a life that is in the light. Remember,
as you pursue these things in your life, the reward is
not the applause or praise of the people around you
or anything else but God Himself!

May our souls long for God like the deer

that pants for running water. That's the
life that we have in Jesus the Author
and the Finisher of our faith, the Alpha
and the Omega, the beginning and the
end!
This is our prayer for the youth in JRM
Bagong Silang and for all the youth in the
entirety of Jesus Reigns Ministries.
We break the walls of spiritual immaturity
and the lack of hunger in prayer and in the
Word of God, in Jesus' name!

We all know the rule “45-10-
45” that is always quoted by our
dear pastors. The campus harvest
event held in our university proved
that it is true.
The event that happened last
February 21 at the Pamantasan ng
Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) is a
product of pure faith. From the
planning to technicalities, from
the preparation to the souls
reached. I can say that the
character of the PLM Firebrands
was really tested by this, and thank
GOD for that. From the very
beginning of the dream up to the
last minute before the event
started, our patience, trust and
faith in God were really stretched.
I won’t go into too much details on
how it was done. I can only say
that GOD is our Great Provider and
HIS plans are higher than ours. I
remember all the meetings,
conversations and efforts we all
had shared. But GOD is always
faithful. And without His Spirit, it
was all impossible.

saying, it means 45% for the
preparation, 10% for the
presentation and 45% for follow
up. That is how it works.
Desperate prayers were uttered
for the people who were reached.
We were so blessed and thankful
because at the end of that day, we
believe that HE was smiling
because of the souls we have
reached. And this is what matters
most: HIS Glory! I'd correct
myself, that wasn’t an event, that
was God’s movement which has
started ever since in our campus.
We believe that there is more!!!
I would like to acknowledge
some "angels" whom God has sent
to us. The PLM Firebrands give
their warmest appreciation to the
JRM family for all the support and
prayers, to the Youth Ministry for
the unending encouragement and
to the Campus Ministry for the
trust and generosity.
We can do all things through
CHRIST who strengthens us!!!
 Miracles
still happen
A nother First Fruit Offering
had passed last February 1.
For students like me, it
would mean a stretch of faith to give
out a few thousands of your allowance.
It was in my heart to give part of my
savings for the summer camps aside
from a sum of money equivalent to one
week of allowance. The night before
the offering day, I admit that I had the

dilemma whether I should give this
much. Suddenly, someone sent me a
100 pesos cellphone load. It was
apparently one of my patients who
gave me a gift through my mobile
phone. I accepted the gift because I
knew it was God's favor. It was the go
signal that I'd been waiting from God
to decide whether I should give that
amount or not. The following day, I
gave the full amount as an offering and
I remembered my Colgate Scholarship
application last January 14. I just asked
God quietly, “Panginoon, kamusta na po
kaya yung scholarship application ko?
February na po pero wala pa. Pero sige
lang po. Whether I receive it or not, thank
you for the hope, joy and encouragement.”
God knew that I longed for this grant

since July 2008. That month, an
upperclassman approached me along
with our college registrar and told me
that there's this scholarship grant that
is given to one graduating student
from each of the 15 dental schools in
the Philippines for financial assistance.
I expressed my desire but I asked, “Ate
may grade requirement ba?” They
nodded and I knew right there and
then that one failing grade would
disqualify me even though my annual
family income would cause me to be
the top candidate. So I told them,
“Sayang ate, hindi na ako pwede dyan.”
When they left, a tickle in my heart
caused me to pray, “Lord, gusto ko pa po
sana ng isa pang scholarship for next sem
pero kung di po talaga ako pwede dun, ok
lang po. Thank you for the joy. Pero, I'm
willing to wait.” (wink wink). The
desire was already in my heart months
before January 2009 when the dean
asked me to come to her office and told
me about the scholarship and that she
would recommend me for it. As for
me, this is another God's miracle and
favor. I received a letter in the second
week of February about the awarding

of the scholarship only to find out that
it was approved and sent 4 days before
the day of the First Fruit Offering!
How great is our God!!! The blessing
has long been prepared even before the
receiver's heart became right. Now I
have more to share... thousands of it,
for God's kingdom even if I'm still a
student. All glory and honor to
Jesus.
When I became a Christian, one
fundamental lesson I learned is giving
to God's kingdom. I learned that God
wants to bless His children even
through finances. The Bible says in
Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two
masters, for either he will hate the one
and love the other, or he will be
devoted to the one and despise the
other. You cannot serve God and
money.” More so, the enemy, Satan,
doesn't want us to give to the Lord
because he knew that God has a
promise of blessing to those who
cheerfully give (see Malachi 3:10). So I
decided to make my finances serve the
Lord. It also serves as a training before I
graduate and enter into the corporate
world. I wanted my heart to be fully
submitted even in this matter because
“Where your treasure is, there your
heart will be also (Matthew 6:21)”.
This is practically true in terms of
investing your money in a business or a
stock. You will be tracking where your
money goes, how does the company
make it grow, how much interest is
your finances gaining, and so on. Your
heart will be inclined to where your
treasure is and I wanted my own to be
inclined towards God's work like

missions, youth ministry, campus
ministry and the like. Though we
tighten our belts because of the
financial crises, my family
continuously receives blessings from
the Lord in many ways. Jesus has
always been our Great Provider and
His words always stand true to those
who will obey and believe.
Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself in the
Lord and He will give you the desires
of your heart.
Carnal Finality is not
the Finale

Different Plans, Different Wills
Different Ways
One Purpose, One Destiny
So Many Choices to Choose from,
But One Prevails All
In Search for True Meaning
So Many Plausible Things are Present
But Only One Triumphs
So I Say It's about God
Glorifying Him, Choosing Him,
Praising Him, Worshipping Him,
Letting Him Be the Lord of Our Lives,
Being with Him, Serving Him,
Loving Him, Letting His Will be Done
And So to End,
In search for every significant thing in Life,
