The purpose This book chapter describes climate change impacts on the global economy, especially on supply chain operations. The statement Because climate change could negatively affect manufacturing and service companies, it can disrupt some stages in supply chain. The relevance This critical review has some relevance to the second assignment. The idea that there is a clear relationship between supply chain and climate change would strengthen my claim that climate change can affect non-agricultural firms. Secondly, I can use some evidence in this text to support my argument that climate change or extreme events can affect non agricultural firms because the firms consist of supply chain operations.

II. Summary
Supply chain is a complex system that consists of some main operations. In order to produce appropriate services and products for end customers, some components of supply chain such as people, technology and material, interact frequently to exchange and proceed information and materials. Because interaction between information and materials is very complex, supply chain could include several main operations such as manufacturing, transportation, warehousing and storage. Other possible operations are trading, consumption and customer service. Every main operation have to work well in order to supply high quality products or services at an appropriate time. If, for example, transportation does not work well, a company could not provide products on time. Climate change and supply chain operations are mutually affected. This means that climate change can influence supply chain each other. For example, manufacturing operations such as garment production and food production can be delayed if raw materials would not arrive on time because of extreme events such as hurricanes or extreme rain. On the other hand, fossil fuels burning in manufacturing or production processes can increase greenhouse emissions that leads to climate change. Another example is while climate change could damage transportation because of extreme floods or a higher sea level, transportation could burn fossil fuels that release greenhouse emissions into the atmosphere. III. Evaluation This chapter introduces the topic clearly. It starts introducing three physical risks to explain climate change effects on business. Following this, definitions of supply chain are explained to describe main operations in supply chain. Using concepts of three physical risks and the main operations,

the writer can easily explain mutual relationships between climate change and supply chain operations. The chapter can is suitable for audience from different backgrounds. The writer explains some concepts such as supply chain operation and supply chain management with simple language so that different readers can understand the topic easily. For instance, several definitions of supply chain are introduced to help readers to understand the topic well. Moreover, the writer does not embed some difficult concepts of supply chain such as the bullwhip effect and the material requirement planning. In addition, the writer provide subheadings so that readers can read the chapter according to their interests. Thus, readers from different disciplines could understand the topic in a relatively short time. By contrast, the chapter has some weaknesses. Firstly, it does not provide sufficient evidence about climate change impacts on supply chain operations. For instance, the writer suggests that extreme events like a higher sea level could damage warehousing but he does not provide empirical evidence. Secondly, the writer does not describe climate change impacts on supply chain performance. If the writer could explain a scientific relationship between climate change and supply chain performance, enterprises could measure climate change impacts on their supply chain performance and anticipate the negative impacts of climate change. Lastly, the writer explains that suppliers is an important part of supply chain operations, however, he does not explain a relationship between climate change and suppliers. Another weak point is an incomplete description of agile and lean manufacturing. The writer identifies importance of the concepts agile and lean manufacturing. That to say, agile manufacturing is an important paradigm because it is suitable to manufacture customized products and lean manufacturing is required to perform an efficient supply chain.
