SkilfulRunning.com Athletics365 Academy Philosophy In line with uk:athletics, the Academies will coach allinclusive, progressive Athletics skills via the UKA Athletics365 programme and its 350+ progressive colour-coded challenges. The programme covers the broad range of athletics events and FUNdamentals: Balance; Posture; Co-ordination; Agility & Awareness - so that kids can get a comprehensive physical vocabulary. Athletics365 also covers some Lifestyle and Behaviour elements. The academies will be deliberately located in the community, recognising that U13s don't necessarily need athletics track facilities and that busy parents can't always taxi their kids to the track EIS/Woodbourne-Rd/Chaucer city venues. Medium-term the idea will be to take the Athletics365-in-a-car-boot Academy to community venues (hall with a field) wherever the demand is. Academy sessions will operate with very limited max numbers per session to ensure high quality coaching & continuous assessment in a safe environment. All SkilfulRunning.coms sessions emphasise inclusive equal-effort, fun games as the starting point (activities like Butter-Jig-Flies, Universal, Cargo Crawl, Smartie Laps, Shark Run, Pull Throw Golf, Kabbadi, Figure o Eight High 5s, Zig-Zag Parlaufs, Dicey Circuits, Poker Hand Racing etc). Athletics365 Curriculum & Challenges The Athletics365 curriculum covers the following areas: Physical Conditioning (Balance, Posture, Co-ordination, Agility, Awareness) Running Jumping Throwing Lifestyle/Psycho-Behavioural. The Academys objective is to create Skilled Runners & Athletes who, when they are ready for more serious competition may be sign-posted to existing city-wide athletics, triathlon, A.N. Other clubs as appropriate: Equally SkilfulRunning.com may form a competitive team itself. However Founder Coach Neil sees SkilfulRunning.com more as an educational/coaching entity than sports team (even though Neil races and coaches his daughters schools cross-country teams). About SkilfulRunning.com
SkilfulRunning.com was founded by Neil Evans-Mudie (left, meeting Jess Ennis-Hill) to coach athletes to be more skilful as runners, throwers, jumpers & sports players. Part of the founding reason was Neils frustration as a father seeing his own kids being involved in early years sports sessions which did not cater for their needs for a combination of quality coaching and fun, exciting activities. Neils frustration was re-framed as an ongoing passion to consistently deliver quality sessions in a fun, engaging child-centric manner. Neil is a candidate uk:athletics Childrens Coach and Coach in Running Fitness, hoping to complete his CC before 2014 and CiRF in early 2014. Neil is also a qualified gym instructor, football coach and Sports Science graduate (1991). Neils still running sub-18 min 5Km Parkruns, with high county rankings for runs, throws & jumps as a junior.
