International Pharmaceutical Students Federation - Pan American Regional Office Subcommittees Positions 2013-14

Committees members work under the PARO Regional Working Group and their work is more specific to certain activities. These positions require little or no travelling, although it is advisable to attend the 60th IPSF World Congress and your committee meeting if one is scheduled. You should be able to work on a daily basis throughout the year in your position and have regular Internet access. You must be reachable throughout your entire term through August 2014.

If you are interested in a particular Committee position listed here, you should submit the completed nomination form and a motivation letter with 10 to 20 lines in the email body to the PARO Secretary (secretary@paro.ipsf.org) before the deadline for applications.

The number of positions available for each Committee are specified below.

All nomination forms must be submitted to secretary@paro.ipsf.org no later than Saturday, 5th of October 2012, 23:59 EST.

Chairperson & Secretary

IPSF PARO Corporate Relations Subcommittee Positions Available: Two (2)

This Committee will work with the IPSF PARO Chairperson and Secretary to raise funds for the PARO budget and Development Fund to further IPSF initiatives and assist members attend IPSF events. Members of the Committee will work on the following tasks: Developing a list of possible sponsors for the PARO region Develop a sponsorship package that can be used to approach sponsors Approach potential sponsors to support IPSF and the PARO Development Fund

The member of the committee should have: Focused, organized, communicative, reliable, highly creative and resourceful Experienced in financial duties of an organization Innovative ability to create sponsorship ideas and fundraising opportunities Motivated to further IPSF global pharmacy initiative

IPSF PARO Translation Committee Positions available: Five (5)

The Pan American Regional Office of IPSF is in need of members that speak Spanish, English, Portuguese, French and Dutch to join a Translation Committee to help translate the website and materials created by the PARO leadership. The aims of this Committee are to bridge the gap between the northern, central and southern Americas, and make IPSF more relevant to all Member Organizations and to the non-members.

The member of the committee should have: Fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO Experience in IPSF or in their Associations Multilingual in Dutch, English, French, Portuguese or Spanish. Native speakers for the languages that speak English too are ideal. Regular access and use to internet and e-mail

Regional Relations Officer

IPSF PARO Membership Promotion Subcommittee Positions available: Four (4)

This Committee will work with the IPSF PARO Regional Relations Officer (RRO) on the following tasks: Assisting the Regional Relations Officer in promoting and extending IPSF membership to nonmembers Assisting RRO in getting new contacts of interest and media Assisting RRO in the relations with English native speaking Countries. Discussing with RRO the needs of IPSF PARO members and how IPSF PARO can help them Assist in development of IPSF surveys Promoting IPSF development fund to members

The member of the committee should have: Experience in IPSF or in their Associations Good communication and presentation skills Multilingual in English, Spanish (Native Spanish speakers preferred) or Portuguese is ideal. Fair knowledge about IPSF and IPSF PARO Regular access and use to internet and e-mail

Regional Projects Officer

IPSF PARO Public Health Project Coordinators Positions available: One (1) per project

The Pan-American Regional Office Regional Working Group (PARO RWG) within the International Pharmaceutical Students Federation (IPSF) is searching for two (2) Project Coordinators to facilitate the implementation of projects extending between our communities and internationally.

Currently the projects requiring promotion, implementation, and growth are: 1. Vampire Cup 2. Diabetes & Healthy Living

This is an excellent opportunity to get involved with IPSF and PARO on an international level, as well as to help unify the Americas through health awareness projects. Interested applications will be coordinating with the Regional Projects Officer to help organize and assist with the implementation of these initiatives throughout the upcoming year and to see these projects take off throughout the Pan American Region.

Project Details: 1) Vampire Cup Challenge This project has been running for three years and it focuses on encouraging people to donate blood within their communities and that has become an international challenge for health care. It has room to expand within the Pan American region and we hope to promote it this year. The campaign takes place around June. Toolkits and information for this Campaign have been developed by IPSF and are updated every year.

Objectives for this project: Increase the number of participants from pharmacy schools/colleges/associations throughout the Pan American region. Start as soon as possible with the promotion, coordination and execution. Help PARO bring home the Vampire Cup.

2) Diabetes Mellitus Awareness & Diabetes and Healthy Living Campaign Already a well-established project promoted within IPSF and APhA-ASP (the American Pharmacist Association - Academy of Student Pharmacists), this project focuses on DM which affects individuals in all countries, including North and South America. The Diabetes Mellitus Awareness campaign is held in November and the Healthy Living in April.

Objectives for this project: Promote the project and increase the number of participants schools/colleges/associations throughout the Pan American region. Start as soon as possible with the promotion, coordination and execution. from pharmacy

Requirements for the candidates: Focused, organized, communicative, reliable, highly creative and resourceful. Willingness to learn and adapt to what is needed. Good time management skills and be able to work efficiently within a dynamic team and also be able to work independently. Open to constructive criticism in order to improve workflow processes. Able to effectively and efficiently use technology for networking, organization and planning, such as Microsoft Office, Skype, Facebook, blogs, databases, etc). Able to take initiative. Be creative to navigate around and find innovative solutions to obstacles encountered with this position. Have access to a reliable Internet connection to facilitate group and individual meetings. Available to keep in contact via Skype for meetings at least one per month with the Regional Projects Officer and collaborations through Google docs. Having experience in creating promotional material for the publication of the draft (newsletters, posters, columns, emails) is considered a benefit. Ability to speak English is highly encouraged and speaking other languages are considered a benefit.

3) IPSF PARO Public Health Series Coordinator In the past years we have tried to introduce the Public Health Series to our Facebook page with the help of the project chairs. This is a project started last year where we posted on the PARO Facebook information relevant to each of the campaigns. This year, we want to expand and have not only the coordinators do their part but also have publications such as images or videos in those months when there are no campaigns happening. The content will be discussed with the Regional Projects Officer. These publications will not happen every month but every couple of months.

Objectives for this project: Expand the Public Health Series project. Promote our Facebook page to IPSF and PARO members. Start as soon as possible with the promotion, coordination and execution.

Focused, organized, communicative, reliable, highly creative and resourceful. Willingness to learn and adapt to what is needed. Internal Coordination and Communication Officer

Media and Promotional Committee Positions available: Two (2)

This Committee will work with the IPSF PARO Internal Communication and Collaboration Officer (ICCO) on the following tasks: Creating, designing, editing of IPSF PARO media materials o Examples including but not limited to: o Videos, posters, educational resources, and newsletters

Innovating new ways to promote and fundraise for IPSF PARO

Maintaining a database of approved IPSF PARO media designs o o o Collecting approved designs from our various IPSF PARO members Providing approved design database to IPSF PARO members Organizing media information

Participating in the creation of IPSF PARO newsletters o o Designing and reviewing publications Collecting information regarding announcements, events, projects, and ideas from IPSF and our various PARO members

Maintaining the IPSF PARO social networks through Wordpress and Facebook o o o Publishing IPSF PARO videos, pictures, and promotional items Sharing status updates and information Innovating new ways to educate, promote, and reach-out to IPSF PARO members

Members of this committee are required to have the following qualifications: Able to utilize technology proficiently Able to use the Adobe Creative Suite 5 or higher InDesign program Skills in other programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator are desired yet not required Able to use Microsoft programs of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Able to access Facebook Would require signing up for a Facebook account, if member does not currently have one Knowledge of the use of Wordpress is a plus but not required Able to time manage and stay organized

Experienced in creating publications such as newsletters, letters, or posters Have good knowledge of video editing and animations Have creative abilities to produce designs Have access to a reliable internet connection Available to contact via Skype meeting and Google doc collaboration

Design and Creativity PARO Chair Positions available: One (1)

This Committee will work with the IPSF PARO Internal Communication and Collaboration Officer (ICCO) on the following tasks: Assist with the creative and design aspects of the Publications portfolio Work with designing and creating IPSF promotional materials such as poster, brochures, posters, banners, logos, templates, layouts and web graphics

Members of this committee are recommended to have the following qualifications: Extensive creativity and experience in using common graphic design tools such as Photoshop. It is also advantageous to have access to as well as experience with using Corel Draw and Adobe Illustrator.

Website Development Chair Positions available: One (1)

This Committee will work with the IPSF PARO Internal Communication and Collaboration Officer (ICCO) on the following tasks: Primary role of this committee is to help with the website, keeping it updated and translated Any technical issues will be addressed to this committee to fix them This committee will have the challenge of making the website more used than it has been in the past and the home for retrieving any information regarding PARO

Members of this committee are required to have the following qualifications: Extensive skills in web design and website programming
