I still remember the day I got my braces in seventh grade. I was dreading everything. Metal mouth, railroad tracks, headgear head, you name it and I knew that was what I would be called. Thankfully, my parents had the wisdom and conviction to insist I have braces to correct my bite and align my teeth. As an adult I look back and realize I was just a goofy 7th grader and brace face would have been a compliment. As an orthodontist I look back and realize how much orthodontics has changed. While my generation was dreading braces, today children cant wait for braces and are truly disappointed when I tell them I don t think they need them. Of course clear braces, Invisalign, and braces on the back of teeth have changed lots of attitudes towards orthodontia. The fact that I have not used a headgear in ten years helps out also. I feel very fortunate to be an orthodontist and have the ability to not only change smiles, but also peoples perception about themselves. I also feel very grateful to all my patients and parents for not only entrusting their care to our team, but also for voting us the Best Orthodontist in the Golden Triangle. I look forward to creating more beautiful smiles and lasting relationships.
