Nitoseal 125

One part neutral silicone joint sealant

Uses For use internally or externally in structural movement joints and for sealing joints in brickwork, blockwork or precast panel construction, composite and lightweight panel construction, curtain walling and window and door frame surrounds. It can also be used for glazing and ceramic tiling applications. Advantages One component, ready to use, simple to apply Expansion joint Available in a range of colours Primerless adhesion on most materials Cures to form a very flexible, elastic seal Good slump resistance Excellent weathering characteristics Suitable for use on concrete and masonry surfaces Good chemical resistance Movement: Accommodation factor ( MAF ): Cure: Skinning time at 20 Cure rate at 20 C, Nitoseal 125 silicone rubber joint sealant that cures by exposure to atmospheric moisture. It is applied simply from the cartridge and can be finished neatly with appropriate tooling. When cured it will accommodate high thermal, shrinkage and moisture movements. Design Criteria Joints should be designed so that movement due to shrinkage and thermal change does not exceed the 40% Movement Accommodation Factor, related to the joint width. Where possible the sealant depth should be between 1/3 and 1/2 of the joint width. The sealant depth must never exceed joint width. 65% R.H Application temperature Appearance Joint Width (mm) 3 (min) 5 6 10 11 20 21 25 (max) Technical Support Fosroc offers a high

Instructions for Use Joint preparation Joint surfaces must be clean and dry. Remove all dust and laitance by grit blasting, grinding or rigorous wire brushing. Where necessary to achieve the correct joint profile, Expancell backing cord should be used. In joints not using Expancell, Nitoseal Debonding Tape should be placed in the base of the joint.Priming Nitoseal 125 exhibits excellent adhesion without primer to glass, tiles, ceramics, aluminium, concrete, masonry, epoxy, polyester and wood. Any areas not sealed within 2 hours should be re-primed. Application Nitoseal 125 can be applied by hand or air operated caulking gun. Ensure that the sealant is pushed firmly in to the joint to give complete wetting of the surface. Any tooling of the sealant surface must be carried out immediately using a joint shaping tool soaked in detergent solution. If required the edges of the joint can be protected with masking tape - if this is done ensure that the tape is removed immediately after tooling. Cleaning Uncured sealant can be removed by wiping with rags soaked in Fosroc Solvent 102. Cured material can only be removed mechanically. Limitations Not suitable for trafficked joints. Not suitable for Fosroc Solvent 102 33C For further information, refer to the Product Material Safety Data Sheet. Number of cartridges required = Joint Width (mm) x Sealant Depth (mm) x Joint Length (m) 300 ( 285 ml ) A further amount should be allowed for wastage. Storage At least 9 months if stored in original, unopened containers stored in cool dry conditions i.e. not exceeding 25C. Storage above this temperature will reduce storage life. Precautions Health and Safety Nitoseal 125 should not come in contact with eyes and skin. The use of protective gloves is recommended. Do not swallow. Should accidental skin contact occur, remove immediately with a resin removing cream such as Kerocleanse Standard Grade Skin Cleanser or Rozaklens Industrial Skin Cleanser, followed by washing with soap and water. Do not use solvent. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of clean water and seek medical advice. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately -do not induce vomiting.
