We would like to invite you to participate in the Terry Parker High

Class of ‘82 and Reunion scheduled for Saturday, July 18, 2009. It’s hard to believe

it has been almost a year since our first event. This year’s proceeds will go

Class of ‘86 Over the past twelve months, we have been encouraged (but not

Alumni, present and former coaches, teachers and administrators, parents,
Chuck Cuthbertson political representatives at the state and local levels, community leaders and

Mark Schou, CPA To date, three events have been held and over $70,000 has been raised
Class of ‘82 for the current students at Terry Parker High School. In addition, we had a

When we began this endeavor, we believed private funding and

Class of ‘82 community volunteerism would be a necessary part of resolving the issues

when the 2009-10 Duval County School Board Educational budget

In August 2008, the Terry Parker High School Alumni Fund, Inc. (the
Gregg Miles “Fund”) was officially organized and subsequently approved as a charitable
Class of ‘83 organization within the meaning of Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal
Director Revenue Code of 1954. The State of Florida issued registration number
CH29032 indicating the Fund has complied with Chapter 496 of the Florida
Statutes, Solicitation of Contributions Act.
Terry Parker High School Alumni Fund, Inc.

The Fund is dedicated to the mission of supporting the students, teachers and administrators
in the Duval County Public School System by providing private funding, goods and services and
volunteers for School approved student activities.

The key role of the Fund is to serve as the vital link between the school system and private
sector resources.

The premise of the Fund’s organizers is that it is unproductive to place blame upon the
school system’s students, teachers, administrators or elected officials or expect them to solve all
funding shortfalls. Therefore, the Fund develops and promotes a strong positive working
partnership between the school system and the private sectors within our community.

The Fund is comprised of creative individuals who commit time and resources to helping the
students, teachers and administrators in the Duval County Public School System. It has been
designed for everyone in our community to be involved. We believe that volunteerism is as
important as cash contributions.

The board of director’s set a goal of expanding the Fund’s visibility in the community in
order to reach the Fund’s 2009 objectives. The Fund’s 2009 objectives are the following:

 Exceed $100,000 of cash donations and $50,000 of in-kind donations


 Increase donations to the Academics and Fine Arts areas
 Increase the number of those serving on the board of directors
 Assist other Duval County High School Alumni in forming an Alumni Fund for their
particular School – 10 schools are targeted
 Determine parameters and establish a scholarship fund

With your help, the board is confident the Fund’s 2009 objectives can be accomplished.
