Scott (in overall charge of the design and work) Albert Memorial Jules Dalou, Triumph of the Republic, 1899 With Triumph of the Republic was produced to celebrate centenary of French of 1789. The statue now stands in the middle of Place de la Nation, the south-eastern revolution gateway to Paris. It is an allegorical piece in which it is possible to explore issues of gender and/or politics - how women and men are represented within a sculptural group and how they contribute, to an intended political message. Dalou is firmly fix with thin the Beaux cannon but has taken on board eclectic elements of, hence the figures are idealized and influenced by Baroque art, tempered by a degree of anatomical realism and detail.

The work can serve as a good comparison to the Liberty Leading the People, which although heroic, tries to avoid the mythical and historicism, elements in which Dalous w in fully indulged - note the chariot.
