During installation of rotating

equipment, positioning accuracy
down to only a few hundredths of
a millimeter becomes crucial. Less
stringent standards may lead to
less than optimal support for the
machine feet during operation,
which can then lead to vibration
and, ultimately, to unplanned
breakdowns and enormous downtime expense. Prevention of such
unpleasant surprises can be quite
painless, since the cause is often
very basic; for example, lack of
shims of proper size and thickness
during installation. Such preventive
medicine can even pay for itself
during machine alignment.

The different laminate thicknesses can be

recognized by color: the thick layers of
brass shims are brown, and the thin layers
are yellow; the stainless steel shims have
silver colored thick layers and reddish thin

The LAMIBLOC case ALI 2.873-P

contains 160 laminated shims.
Each 1 mm shim is composed of 8
layers 0.1 mm thick and 4 layers
0.05 mm thick. The various layers
are colored for easy recognition
when peeling shims to the required
thickness.
Weight: approx. 11.2 kg.

Each of the four PERMABLOC cases contains shims in eight different

thicknesses, each separated from
the others by clearly-marked dividers, so that the right shim size and
thickness are always at your fingertips. The welded steel case itself is
extremely rugged; the largest case
(ALI 2.870-P) contains a shim-pulling tool and can be locked.

The ALI 2.870-P case contains
all four PERMABLOC sizes
with a total of 640 shims.
