Manufacturing Processes: Melting and Casting: The group owns 4 Induction Melting Furnaces, 1 Ladle Refining Furnace and 4 Continuous Casters for billet/bloom casting in different mild, alloy and special steels. Hot Rolling: With the help of 4 Hot Cogging Units and 6 Hot Rolling Units, production process starts after cutting billets/blooms/cobbles/slabs in to specified lengths to roll different sizes under strictly monitored inspection by QA/QC department. Straightening and End-Cutting: After segregation of rejection, rolled material is straightened on Straighter and/or hydraulic presses. End-cutting is normally done through gas cutters, saw cutters and saw blades. Sales (Local & Export): The volume of the group can be considered from the figures that only New Shalimar Steel Industries (Pvt) Ltd sold steel of an amount of Rs. 3.5 billion to local market and an amount of Rs. 3.2 billion to export market in Fiscal Year 2011-2012. Other Important Facilities: Laboratory & Testing Equipment: The group has own laboratory and testing facility including Spectrometers, Nitrogen & Oxygen Analyzer, 100 Tons Universal Testing Machine, Flaw Detectors, Hardness Testers, Microscopes and other relevant equipments. Independent Electricity Grid Stations: The group has also installed 2 Independent Electricity Units: one of 26 megawatt in New Shalimar Steel Unit III and other of 13 megawatt in New Shalimar Steel Unit II.
