Design Methodology
The piping classes were developed to provide piping material specifications for the following CSA cold flange rated pressure classes: PN 20, PN 50, PN 100, PN 150, PN 250. For each pressure class, pipe
wall thicknesses were then calculated using the equation provided in CSA Z662-07 Clause 4.3.5.1. A
joint
factor of 1.00 corresponding to seamless and electric welded pipes, location factor of 0.625 corresponding to Class 1/ocation and Station application, temperature factor or 1.00 corresponding to temperatures below 120C, and a specified design factor of 0.8 were used throughout this specification in the determination of the wall thickness.
CSA pipe grades chosen are reflective of material availability, cost and delivery.
